Haha, you want my one Question It's really rare, really fun and that makes me really special. At one point, i believe the only ones in the country were owned by BCF members Wink , Me and Groovearmarda had em last year.

Tis a great bike, shows 600 riders a thing or too about corner speed and it keeps your license clean on the straight stuff. I had 110 out of my bike so it ticks the boxes.

I'm probably looking to get shot of mine around april next year once my 33bhp is done (obviously mine has 40 rear wheel bhp Razz ) so who knows.

Parts aint been too much of a pain and once the bodywork's all off, it's not too difficult a bike to work on. Mine's at the mechanic's for a service and throttle cables, brake pads were pretty easy to find.

Find one for about 1200 and you're laughing. Most are lowish miles if they do become available (19000miles on mine) for a 12 year old bike and mine had the valves done quite a while ago.

Handling is very sure footed. It's not flighty because the engine's not torquey enough for you to take liberties with. It picks a line and stays on it. Very neutral and doesn't really understeer. I trust my front end very much. I would say it's on par with the RS250/RGV. Handling is about as confident as the rider is to be honest. If you have a crazy arse loon like me at the helm, then yes i can make it keep up with 600's and litre twins through the twisty section. It's bloody rewarding!

It has the USD forks. Brakes need a little sharpening up but unfortunately i can't upgrade it to ZXR400 calipers, but evidentally it's the same brakes as the KR-1S. Good enough to stoppie on. I'm trying to acquire braided lines for it as and when i can, just need to send something over to HEL.

Reliabilty, as what you'd expect from a 12 year old bike. The electrics are playing up a bit, my high beam/pass switch is getting sorted out as it only works on dipped beam. If you shove a good battery like a Varta/Yuasa, it'll be fine.

Maintenance is really. Just change the oil and filter every 4000 miles and bobs your uncle. I've done a 2000 mile tour on it, ridden it throughout winter and it starts first time. Which is a good thing, because this bike WILL run in the snow/icy conditions (London Christmas last year).

Any example is about as good as it gets. Since it's very rare, you're not likely to get any ringers. The only downer to my bike was a slightly damaged fairing, but i weren't too put off by it. Sods law was that i lowsided it on diesel Shocked after i made it tip top.

Remember the ZXR is a 4 stroke not 2 stroke like the RGV's etc, hence it is considerably less powerful (40bhp as opposed to 60) and probably heavier.

Correct, 45 bhp at the crank so it's roughly 40 at the rear wheel. Weighs 145 dry and feels it too. It's easy to pick up and and move about. I believe the ZXR4 is about 160 dry?

There was/is also a zxr125 (search on google if you dont believe me) allthough its about as similar to a ninja 600 as a hamster in a bag.

Also know somebody who has just brought a hornet 250! tis a v-twin contraption, very odd..

Interesting these wierd overseas models that dont usually make it here..

It revs to 18k like the others do, it's in a clique gang of engines which the R6 tries to immitate unsuccessfully, but mine can do that cos of the small pistons and miniscule reciprocating mass. It's restricted by the CDI to go beyond 16k in top gear purely because there's not much point, you'd lose power. Having said that, peak power is around about 10-12k so i hardly tend to redline it anyway.

Interestingly, the ORIGINAL hornet WAS the 250cc model developed for the japanese market, hence the 180 rear tyre. Thumbs Up Not many people are aware of that. I think that also revs to buggery.

zxr125? must be thai, but when i was down in south east asia, only model i found was the zxr150, which was pretty pokey when i had a go. Only downside was that it was a stroker and would probably lose to an nsr150. Didn't look as nice as the nsr with its sexy single swinger, nor was it substantially bigger than the cbr 125/150, tad on the small side, very skinny tyres too.

Man, i must be one of a kind with my ZXR Wink. But yeah, if you can get one, it's probably a unique experience. But having said that, people who've ridden 400's would seem to agree.
