Dear All!!

I had a strange experience with My RK today! I was thrashing it down and when shifting down.. I think I shifted down too quick and got some really strange sounds from the gearbox.. Afterwards the bike did not seem to be sitting on gears properly..! It felt like it was 'jumping' gears.. any ideas?

But I checked the gears afterwords and they seem okay..! Could the gears 'jump' ? and why does this happen?

Cheers for your help!

Thanks! I did checkout the chain and found something extremely strange, the chain seems to slack sometimes and when you turn the wheel a few times it becomes loose again!!! How on earth is this possible?

I checked out the sprokets.. they are not bent.. not visibly anyway

CHecked out the rear wheel alignment.. seems spot on

Its funny.. in certain areas the chain is too slack and in certain areas its way too tight!!! all this with the bike on the center stand.

Any suggestions anyone..

I was wondering if they were tight spots.. cause I cleaned my chain with kerosene a couple of weeks ago.. how do you get rid this?

Cheers for you help!

Sounds like you have a few stiff links in there...

When you cleaned your chain with Kerosene (Paraffin) did you wait for it to dry and then re-lube it?

Kerosene is a pretty effective degreaser, and will likely have washed out the lube from inside the links, and bewteen the plates.. you have to REALLY lube a chain that#s been degreased like that....

if it's less than lubed and some water gets into the links it can be just enough to stiffen it up...

Not sure what the best bet would be here, leave the cain to soak in a penetrating oil first, and the give it a good soaking in some chain lube, but not the waxy stuff, somerhing to get right into all the links....

just my thoughts... but then I couold be wrong Smile

sound like you need to oil your chain more ofter, i spray mine every other day so its always wet it also helps to keep the chain cleane as the oil dosnt dry up allowing shit to stick to the chain

all the best
