ok, so I got my RS50 on wednesday. (i will post some pictures in the picture section sometime, but I am sure you all know what an RS50 looks like in the meantime Smile lol)

The guy I got it off is also apparantly 16, but he didn't have it restricted. What I want to know is if the "restrict to 30mph" thing is just one of those lax things that no-one cares about (like the "restrict to 33bhp)?

Basically, should I bother getting it restricted or not?

Thanks
Tom

It will have come automatically restriced when it was bought new, all 50cc bikes are.

So, if he's done nothing with it, then it's still restricted. (not to mention he's talking bollox! Laughing ) but if he's fiddled about with it then it might do a bit more.

What top speed did he say it has?

what happens though if I get pulled over going at 50, lets say? The police are gonna ask to see my licence, and won't they bring it up or anything?

He derestricted it, sorry, forgot to mention.

he said it will sit comfortable at 50mph, and will probably do a bit more at a push.

Got it off ebay. Some guy from Ipswich. I never spoke to him, my dad did it all, lol.

I've heard that the police are "out to get" young bikers (on top of the fact they are out to get all bikers anyway, lol).

noone will batter an eyelid at you, as long as your not causing trouble.

you do not want the rs to do 30mph... its so boring u'll die Shocked

My old rs did 55/60 easily, pushing 65/70 on long straights with the wind behind. (right through red line though, i dont reccomend) and went round corners well. With the 'full power' of the engine, its a fun little bike Thumbs Up

Did you ever have any problems with it being derestricted? (which I assume is right, right? lol... my dad was very tired when he came back, and I haven't test rided it yet).

Smile

nah... and we are on a main road, so we couldn't bumpstart it like you did for my dad (ye, he told me, lol Smile) so I'm waiting till he comes back from america (business trip) and we will either jump it, or charge it or something. It started like twice as soon as I got it out, but then the battery seemed to die, lol. Its sooo frustrating, hehe. I'm sure its perfectly alright, I just don't want to fuck it over till my dad comes back, and I can blame it on him. Laughing

Yeh he said he was going to America, Yeh all you gotta do is get it running for say 10-15mins and it will charge, even if it is just idling.

lol, don't worry. Worst, it may need a new battery, and that fine tbh. Smile

How do I bumpstart it? I have tried running it, but it dosen't seem to "catch". I have a big(ish) driveway, which slopes, but I am not sure if I am doing it right.

Thanks
Tom

Hold clutch in, run along, knock into first or second and then release clutch, then grab clutch quick when it starts. Also did u get my msn address on that piece of paper, cos if you have got that you can always ask me on there if any queries.
