ok, my town centre (st.helens) has been carved up by the town planners into various one way systems, bus and taxi lanes, pedestrian only zones and expensive car parks.
It's early sunday morning ( 'bout 8am), i'm travelling around a one way system that leads to a multi story carpark that is full of car booting folk. In order to get home i would usuall pass through the car park and emerge on the other side to re-join the one way system. today i decided that it wuld take fecking ages to get through the sea of shoppers, so i continued down the 20 metre bit of road that is marked out as bus and taxi only.

Lo and behold, a fecking copper stood at the side of the road, see me and steps out ordering me to stop. He gave me a bit of a telling off, and sent me on my way.......

so it got me wondering how many of you's cut through these lanes to save time/ pointless distance. or is it just me that thinks they are pointless town planning gone insane.

no,no.. i always use them, but in york the man power is not at it's best i don't think,
the quickest way to get round town is to cut through, as long as there is no accidents with pedestrians/taxis/buses you know, people/vehicles who are supposed to be there, i can't see no harm, but any official bodys who catch you could take a different view Rolling Eyes

Hi mate, m in York too.

You can use the bus lane on Tadcaster Road, it's marked for bikes. Not sure about the other ones.

And I use the taxi lanes all the time, never had a problem yet. Laughing
