That is a lucky escape you see how much front brake he used as the whole bike spirts forward and the back comes way off. Tbh i think i would have killed the mini driver or blamed myself for being a twat.

If you're going to drive that fast in an area with traffic then you have to accept the fact that car drivers aren't necessarily going to be expecting 'that bike in the distance' to be travelling at 120 mph.

If you drive your bike at speed then you really are rolling the dice.

That looks to me like a road that would qualify as national speed limit (if it were the UK).

The Mini has no excuse, the bike wasn't going that fast (remember, it looks like national - 60mph), and he didn't give way.

Props to the rider for swerving just enough to avoid it. And for turning around afterwards.

If you think that bike was going at national speed limit speed ( 60mph ) then your having a fucking joke.

How do you exspect someone to see you at the speed he was traveling? Ok its a bit daft place to park, but its a place to park, and its a road.

Here's a clue...bike coming head-on, let's assume that he just might be one of those speeding nutters and wait till he's gone past, after all the fucking car-park will still be fucking there, won't it.

Thats true, and now im driving a car as well, I would of waited. But its just so hard to judge the speed of somthing which isnt very wide, and must be traveling at 100mph+.

So pretty much any accident involving a motorcycle and a car will be the car's fault, eh?

Hell, it doesn't even matter if the bike is speeding, right?

I'll tell you what, try speaking to a good friend of mine whose car was written off by a speeding biker and telling him it was his fault for pulling out and not predicting a motorcycle rounding the corner well up the road at a very high speed.

Of the six years of riding experience I have, 365 days a year in almost all weather conditions, I knew that every time I decided to 'have some fun' that I was putting my life at risk and naturally did the best I could to prevent my demise. But living with the mentality that everyone should be expecting me to be traveling at twice the limit and adjusting their driving to satisfy me is immature, arrogant and more appropriate for the 'scooter chavs' you lot complain about from time to time.

Anyhow, if you watch the very beginning of the video a few times it's obvious that he's A) doing at least 100 mph and B) the car began its turn when the bike was still well up the road, possibly hidden by what appears to be a bend in the road.

I'm not saying that posted speed limits are the only safe speeds at which to travel, because they're not and I have a tendency to ignore them, but I still use my head and keep the speeding for the back roads.

If you look at the video then you'll see that when the biker hits the cooper, the cooper's back wheels is only just past the white line. It's the drivers fault for pulling out on him.

The bike wasn't doing 100mph in my oppinion.

I'd say more like 50 or 60mph.

imo the bike is doing between 80 - 100mph

not nearly fast enough to justify the mini's manouvre. yes the bike was prolly over the limit, but this is the mini drivers fault and only the mini drivers fault. he is lucky not to have killed the fireblade rider.

btw, on legal technicality speed doesnt factor into "fault" on the UK's roads. However, insurance companies use it as and excuse for payment and the police will do you for it (seperate of the "fault" of the accident)

Way over 100mph. Look at it frame by frame alongside the video counter. I'd guess he's covered 60 or 70 metres in the one second from the start of the film to reaching the mini.

I'm not saying that makes it the bikers fault, but you do those speeds (and we all do) and you take the risks. Mini driver made the easy mistake of totally misjudging the speed of the bike. Bike didnt help by being at double the limit (at a guess)

On the plus side, bloody good bike control to stop that quickly and controlled Smile

Well I may end up getting flamed but may as well add my thoughts.

Firstly, I reckon that the mini has not seen the motorcyclist due to the cars in front of the mini obscuring the drivers view. So, in that respects, yep the mini was to blame.

As for the speed, well I know of at least one example whereby the motorist was not charged in an accident that killed a motorcyclist because the estimates of the riders speed (by witnesses and investigations) placed it in the 160kmh area and on the road in question the rider would have appeared from around a blind corner.

If he was riding at over the speed limit then in essence he shouldn't have been there either.
As soon as you break the speed limit you are effectively breaking the law and Im afraid the consequences are yours to bare.

I reckon I'd throw this one 50/50.

If the mini spotted the bike and he was doing the speed limit it may well have been a safe mavouver. Who knows.

Too hard to farkin tell.

Can see it was a lucky escape at any rate.

I hate drivers at tourist spot. They are usually thinking ... where can I park my car? ... I found it! and make a sudden turn across the street.

Actually, Thats not 100% True.

A friend of my Mams was driving her car along a motorway. She was clocking at about 100mph.

A car pulled onto the motorway from a slip road and into the side of my mams mate.

The driver of the car pulling onto the motorway Died.

Me mams mate survived...

She did time for it...

Because she was speeding...
