Hi,

Just looking at DAS options for the spring. A few things are bouncing about my cranium:

Do testers form opinions based on who the trainers are? i.e this pupil has been trained by **********, they are a good company. You are then already in good standing before you start.

I did my CBT with a place that turned out to be done from a guys living room. Ended up having the chat based around road positioning etc in the owners grotty kitchen.

My point being - the tester sees you have been trained by this outfit and has already stigmatised you?

I am pretty sure I want to go with Dobles (linked to their website) with a company called Think Bike (www.thinkbike.co.uk).

Has anyone used them before? If so any thoughts on their service?

Many thanks,

Where did you do the off road training, not on his drive?

My cbt was awfull, the bike I was allocated failed to start and I missed so much time when the others were going up and down the cones....

I'll be looking for another school at the end of March when I'll do the DAS.

I wonder if it makes a difference if your bright vest says a particular company, and would they pass you if you rode very well but did not have motorcycle boots on, just a pair of docs?

Thats exactly the sort of things I am thinking. I hear they like to see someone turn up with good kit but would it 'unofficially' sway a tester in any way.

I went to this guys house between the car park part and going out on the road. This place was a complete tip. Real wipe your feet on the way out stuff. Sick [/quote]

Remember, the tester won't have seen the instructor's living room, so might consider pupils of that company to be 'good', if they consistently present well trained pupils.

I did my training with a similar set up but his home was nice and the guy had very good bikes that were looked after and was a brilliant instructor.

He rented out the local secondary schools tennis court's on weekends for CBT's.

If you were willing to do your training and test in SE London, the guy is based in Eltham and you would do the test either from Sidcup or Belvedere.

I am in Croydon so am looking to get out of town more, so to speak. Croydon test centre is a no-no as far as I am concerned so am leaning towards doing it to take the test at Tolworth. Much nicer area. Thanks though Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
