What does NU12 mean?

How come it costs more to insure an import CBR400/NC30/35 than it does to insure a 2003 636 when a 636 is 200% the BHP same weight and way more a beastie to handle than 400s?.

Any thoughts?

NU = Norwich Union.
Norwich union use 17 groups for bikes; the higher the group, the worse the risk.

While this is the only scheme quoted, other companies use different schemes. I wouldn't be surprised if some companies correlate data to check other people similar to you.
It may be that people of your situation are more likely to crash and have claims from the smaller bike - maybe because they are a cheaper bike people are less worried about crashing?

I somehow think at 17 i wouldent be insuring a 636 at £400 like the CBR400 i (will) insure - already checked rates. Sounds like a bad quote, did you only get one?
