Apologies if you've seen this, I've only just watched it (with my tongue hanging out of my mouth)... A rather fast lap of the IOMTT on a CBR1000RR.

That's Maeda - unfortunately I think he was killed last year at the TT.

On May 29th 2006, it was the second day of practise of TT race, and it was first practise run for him this year. He started to run as the first person at around 18:30. Then he was doing slow down run at a bit ahead of Union Mills (round 3miles from start point) due to machine trouble or something. He was crushed by following rider.
He suffered several fractures at pelvis, ribs.. and was conveyed to Noble's Hospital and got intensive care there. Once he became critically ill due to internal bleeding, but remained in remission after urgent surgery. At night on June 1st, he was conveyed to North Manchester Hospital by helicopter. He went into surgery there again. But he passed away on June 5th 11:17 am.
Japanese riders are regretting his death so much. Many requiem postings were done on his homepage. We lost a very important person. It was just after I read his article on bike magazine about safety cornering(He recommended lean-out cornering on it I remember), I was really shocked to hear that news. I thought no one here knew about this news and refrained from posting about it, but I found His amazing CBR movie again, so I write about the description here. R.I.P.
