NSR 125 2001 for sale, Ireland.

Hi guys

Im probably leaving ireland soon so I am trying to sell my nsr 2001 model, great condition, never crashed and 3000 km on the clock. Can anyone give me an idea of what I should be selling it for ? im in dublin, Ireland. Any tips on selling the bike ? (vehicle newspapers, websites in ireland ?) or even in england ?

O yeah forgot to mention, its taxed and insured till august ... can remaining tax and insurance be transfered ?

Tax can be, it is tax for the bike not for the person riding it, so the new owner more or less inherits shall we say, the tax remaining.

Insurance cannot be transferred because it is based on the owner, location, security, previous claims, NCD etc etc. Your best bet is when you have sold your bike ring up your insurance company and cancel your insurance policy, they will then send you the remaining balance minus about 20%. I sold my moped with only one month left on my insurance so I didn't bother because I would have only got about £20 back after 'administration' costs.

By the way, I dunno what NSR prices are like over in Ireland, but in England a bike like that will sell for about £2600.

Check out www.buyandsell.net for rough prices on NSR's, but with the insurance costs and the fact that garages neither sell nor buy them in anymore you're going to have to sell it cheap to get rid of it any time soon, if its perfect then i'd say you might get 2500 euro's if you can find the right person.

*sigh* taht sux so bad, the bike is brand new and im losing more than 50% on it. The people involved in the insurance business (ireland) that have done this deserve to have their FUCKING families burnt alive ... *Sigh*

Would it be possible to sell it in uk or not ? Wonder if its worth shipping it back with me ... bikes are so expenmsive in uk / ireland If i sold the bike for 2500 euro I could buy a brand new mito in south africa ... but i dont want a 125 :/

You could sell it in the UK, but it would be tricky- somewhere along the line you or the new seller would have to get it registered in the UK which would either cost you money or affect the price you could sell it for. plus, as a non-uk import bike, it probably wouldn't fetch all that much more anyway...

Ive got friends & family in the uk, and I know someone that would sell it for me ... so that sounds like the best idea. How could I get the bike to england other than riding it ? What would be the best procedure for someone I know in uk to sell it for me ? Dont think he rides bikes ...

You would probably need to ride it to the UK (no idea what an Irish licence covers you for as a learner though). Sell it through the Bike Trader / Auto Trader or MCN

Ring a UK DVLA office and ask them the exact procedure to register a bike in the UK. For those over 3 years old you need an MOT, but I dont know if they might insist on one of those for importing a 2nd hand bike under 3 years.

The DVLA might well want to inspect the bike. This is a bit of a pain as you need to take it to the DVLA office on the day they say. At least with Irish plates you can ride it there, rather than having to trailer it there. All they really want to check is the frame and engine numbers. They will inform you about a week after they get the forms of when they want you to take the bike it (which could be another month later).

Think carefully about doing this. I suspect you will get more money, more than enough to make up for it, but it will be alot of hassle and time. If you are living in the UK it is not really a problem, but if you need to visit at each stage then it will be a bit of a pain.

What about registering it in Northern Ireland?
