i did my theory the other week
i now need to do my cbt and practical test
i don't know whether to do it now or wait while the weather warms up again
i dont intend to ride much in the cold as i dont need to, and enjoy 4x4ing in the wetter months (more fun offroad when boggy)

i'm asking this so i can benefit from the experiences of you lot whove done all this before

Personally I'd say just get the test over & done with.

If you have to take the restricted test (e.g. on a 125cc) may as well get that 2 year clock ticking as soon as possible.

A lot of people I've spoken to have mentioned it's probably a better time of year to learn to ride, as if you can cope with wet weather ok, you'll love summer (dryish) rides.

Yes, its best to do it now, with it still in your mind and all that. If you learn in the winter you should become more aware of road conditions etc Thumbs Up

Do it ASAP. Winter is the best time to do your exam, as long as you don't mind the cold and wet weather Smile

You're likely to get a booking in much quicker in the winter, because all the born-agains will start booking in as the weather starts to heat up.

Don't worry if it rains on your test day - your instructor will be aware of the road conditions and will take them into consideration.

When I was looking into this last year, some of the training schools locally offered discounts during Feb & Mar as that is their quietest time. So it is may be worth looking into it as it might save you some money.... Wink

Just wrap up warm Thumbs Up

What everyone else says do it now, the weather might be rubbish but I think you learn A LOT more when taking lessons in bad weather.

The one thing I will say about taking lessons in cold weather dont be affrain to pull into the side of the road (when its safe) if you loose the feeling in your fingers. I did on a couple of occaions and the instructor was fine about.

I did mine a month ago, in rain and gales. The examiner didnt want to get wet so he followed in a car, which I think was a bonus. Do it now!

If you have the money, do it. Otherwise you'll spend it on crap over christmas (if you're anything like me when I was younger).

The tests are only going to keep getting harder. How gutted would you be if they brought in the proposed 'offroad' portion of the test before you get it done? (they will do at some point, it has been passed by Brussels and we signed up to it).

yeah, i had a ybr 125 that could just do 60 and the instructor told me that if i can't do the speed on a nsl road i may fail, true or not.
it rained heavily on my test and i didn't do 60 for fear of slipping on bends, the examiner didn't say anything, bonus. Thumbs Up
