Had a wisdom tooth extracted yesterday, but had to have three injections to make it go numb...it came out relatively easily, no knees on the chest or anything...

I took a couple of painkillers before bed last night, but woke up feeling like I'd been kicked in the face (and yes I do know how that feels unfortunately), my ear aches, my jaw aches etc.

Those of you who have had wisdom tooth removal...how long does this pain/aches last?

Maybe they left a bit in there, Clanger.
And its got all infected overnight.
Hence your gum filling up with pus and greebly things that are festering away, fighting for space and punching you in the cheek.

So your face will prolly explode at 12.49pm on 23 November 2006.

You have been warned.

Aspirin/paracetamol in equal amounts, four hourly.
Plus dabs of clove oil.
Temporary dental pain cure-all.
(plus regular doses of mothers ruin and tonic, with extra slices of lime)

Hope it helps.

You can mix iboprofen with paracetomol quite happily for strong pain relief.

consydol mouth wash is an anti bacterial mouthwash which I use. I will probably help relieve the in
fection too.

I went to Body Pump today, but did feel a bit queasy at one point...and just stood still for a while. Im using warm salt water to wash it after each meal and paracetamol.

Cheers for the tips peeps.
Im glad I only had the one out, not sure I could have coped with having all three out!

I had all 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed under a general anasthetic and the pain felt like my head was in a vice for about a week and a half - most painful thing I have had to endure - lost about a stone in weight in one week as I was unable to eat anything.

It will be over before you know it though mate so just hang in there.

I'd recommend this, the ibruprofen will help with the swelling as well as the pain. Thumbs Up

Hope you're feeling better soon.

Theres nothing wrong with mixing Ibruprofen and Paracetamol, one is a pain killer (para) the other an anti inflamatory (ibru).

For really bad pain try Paracetamol and Codiene (cant spell it!) but do not overdose on the paracetamol - ie take the para and codeine instead of the paracetamol not as well as.

It's no worse for you than taking either one on its own...

In fact, mixing ibruprofen and paracetamol is recommended to allow people to take lower doses of either.

The only dangerous thing is if you take too much of one, oh and asthmatics should be careful taking ibruprofen.

I am so not a fan of dentists. Not been for year. Got pain from a front tooth, but he said tis prolly my wisdom.
Had it out, looked like I had a stroke down the right side of my face.
But pain? I didnt have any, just a swolen face for a day.

Clove oil really helped mine a few months ago, though after a while you'd rather have the pain than the taste of cloves. Sick

Clove oil is also supposed to ward off mozzies, perhaps this down to taste too...?

The continuing pain Ive been experiencing is the tooth next to the extracted tooth...Ive now got toothache...typical!
