Hi all..
I have been offered an XJ900 Yamaha ..FREE, GRATIS, NO COST,..
Only concern is that i have only been riding for a short time, .. have a couple of long distance trips under my belt, BUT, not sure about the power of a 900 .. My options are, keep it till i feel confident enough.. or, take it slow and easy and use it...
I am not in a city , I am in the country, roads that go on forever, with minimal trafic
Your thoughts ??

they are great bikes, quite heavy but priitty low maitanance tourers. and almost 100hp. i have a friend back in nz that has an 80's model that was at over 250,000 kms and still running
as long as you dont mind doing a bit of maintanance and don't ride like an idiot , i would go for it ____________________ the humans are dead

It's now 7.15 pm here, been a nice day 22 degrees, so, taking fate in my throttle wrist I took it (XJ900) for a run to Hervey Bay, did ok so continued on to RainBow Beach, had a swim, and am now home (Wishing the road led me elsewhere).. BOY..!!!... ain't the 900 something else...
SOOOOOO smooth.. a joy to behold on the road, a little heavy, but the grunt sure makes up for it... mind you I have another 6 days to make up my mind if I want it.. I mean lets get real, today was an exercise in cutting loose, I really need to assess it as an everyday bike...
one minor (?) thing though, at between 120-130 it kinda missed and then settled down, same thing coming down to less than 120 ??
Any thoughts ??

Now that would be a cool way to see the world!... Ride down the East coast of Oz past Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, over to Perth... Take a boat to Indonesia, ride up to the north coast, take another ferry to Singapore then; Malaysia, Thailand, China, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Europe and home
Although you'd probably have to scrap the bike once you got home :p ____________________ Current Bikes - Kawasaki ZX-6R (636) | BMW G650GS |

Looks clean and I can't see any obvious damage to the bike ____________________ Yamaha YB100 | Yamaha TZR125 | Yamaha XJ600S | Suzuki GSF600

No major damage, just where it fell over and slid 2-3 feet down a driveway, (Side stand in soft earth..doh!!)
very small scatches to the upper right fairing and just on the end of the exhaust.
57,684 km on a complete out of frame rebuild,
Tyres .. F 85-90% .. R 90%+
To ride it over there (from here) would'nt kill it, BUT it would need MAJOR surgery
Out of here at 5am in the morning (Sat 25th here) going to Melbourne via central new South Wales.. roads are looooonggg & STRAIGHT and towns/vilages are about 100-150 km apart, AND you can see cops from a distance, or the truckies let you know on the UHF anyway..
CAN'T WAIT... gonna go sleep now (1.30pm Fri) ..
see you all when I'm back.
