Hiya i would like to know your opinions on what i should do in this situation, i was riding up the road when a white van pulled out on me so i slowed down and then we came to a set of traffic lights, so i was about a metre behind him there where two men in the back lucking at me and suddenly the van reversed straight into me i didnt have time to move out the way because i wasnt expecting it, he knocked me off and knocked my mirror off and i was on the floor and buckled my front wheel the traffic lights went green so he just decided to bugger off and leave me seeing me laying on the floor, i got his number plate S138 BBV but there where no witnesses what do you reckon i should do?

i didnt tell them because i thought it would be too much hassle and it would mean having to phon einsurers up and such like and then my insurance premiums going up i thought

yeah im just third party and from past experience with complaints they take about 3 weeks to come round and get a statement and they promise u times but never turn up and then in the end forget all about it, is there any way to find out the owners address and pay him a visit ?

Report it to the police. Tell them exactly what happened and make a point that he failed to stop after an accident. You don't have to involve your insurance company, so don't worry about that.

The police then have a duty to follow it up, and okay it might not get you anywhere, but assuming the van is registered to the d*ck who was driving it/someone he knows/is employed by the registered keeper etc, it will get them into a bit of trouble and probably make them squirm a bit about the risk of being prosecuted.

Failing that, keep your eyes open for it, track it down and then extract revenge with a baseball bat to the van (or the owner if you prefer).

I'm sorry but in this situation I would take matters into my own hands. The fact he knew you where there, purposely reversed into you and then just left takes the fucking piss. Do your best to find out where he lives and raise hell.

It's just like someone hitting you in the face and you walking off to phone the police. You'd hit the twat back wouldn't you?

Report it. It will be flagged against the vehicle if nothing else.

I hate to condemn white van man but sometimes they are rubbish. This is outrageous. Well done for getting the plate.

They will just say that you hit the back of them after falling to stop, they did leave the scene of an accident though! but then so did you without reporting it.
You would be very lucky to get any kind of result from the police Mad

When you speak to the police, tell them it was attempted murder as opposed to driving away from an accident. You'll then get a Detective rather than a uniformed officer. Explain the situation leading up to the events & write down [b]NOW[/[b]a description of the occupants so you don't forget. If you've got any bumps and scratches from when you fell off the bike, make sure you show them to the police too!

Like it or not I agree with Modo. Without a single witness on your side the chance is that you will end up paying out to the guy in the van if you report the accident.

best thing, is to google how to find him from reg, take a few mates their, (post where and when too) have a chat with him, see wot he say's and erm, depending on your feeling toward him, you may not need wait for a response....
