When I click to watch a film in full screen mode, it tries to change to full screen but then changes back to the small view. It's annoying, as something software I use uses wmp as default and no way to change.

Anyone know what might be the problem?

There should be a pin icon somewhere when you try to click into full screen. Click that once and see if it has any affect. Sometimes it turns on for no apparent reason. Confused

i use VLC to watch movies, divx, xivd, porn, clips, everything, the player is small and hence doesnt clog up loads of cpu space like WMP which is a pile of wank ( excuse me frenc)

check out https://www.videolan.org/vlc/ Thumbs Up

I'd start with your video drivers. I'm no expert on MS, but direct-x might come into the equation somewhere as well.
Oh, and I second the recommendation for vlc. The scan features weren't the best last I checked, but it's free, (relatively) stable and seems to support just about everything

Yeah I use VLC which is good, but a tv program I use uses wmp as default and there's no ption to change it, so stuck with small screen

just out of curiosity, what graphics chipset are you using? Do you have a control centre for it (right-click on desktop, select properties, go to settings and see if there's a little logo that lets you diddle with the video card settings)? It might let you fiddle with the full-screen mode.
