Hey ppl

Went to a bike breaker today to see what 125s he had. The nicest one was a Yamaha Tenere, looks big for a 125! Are these bikes any good?

Also I saw an old Cagiva, didnt have a name on it anywhere but it was about B reg apparently. Looked quite sporty, but a 2 stroke this old cant be very good! Are these old Cagivas any good?

Cheers a lot,
Doddmaster

Hi

The 125 Tenere uses mainly DT125 running gear. Not sure how quick, but I dont think they were ever sold here officially. Probably not a bad bike, but a sports 125 would be quicker (but on a long run the Tenere fuel tank size would make up for that).

What old model of Cagiva was it? Did it have a fairing? Cagiva originally took over the old Harley Davidson / Aeromacchi factory, and there early bikes were carried over from the old range. Avoid these! They built a few sports 125s in the 80's such as the Alleta Oro (I think) which did not have a great reputation (except for vibration), but they really came along well with the Freccia. These came out in about 86/87 with the C9 model. This went through to the C10 and C12R, with the last one having an electronic power valve (early ones used a mechanical power valve) and 7 speed gearbox. The C12R engine was carried over to the Mito. The C10 and C12 look very much like the Ducati Paso.

Where were you looking at these bikes? Could be interested to wander along an have a look myself some time

All the best

Keith

Yeah it was fully faired. Nice looking bike really, but for that sort of money I could get something newer and better! (If there was anything better round here!)

The place is called TMB (Telford Motorcycle Breakers) situated behind the Window shop on Wellington High Street.

Their phone number is 01952 248949 and postcode is TF1 1JT (if u want to use a route finder etc)

If its 125s you are after, they didnt have much in - a knackered KMX, an almost knackered suzi GS125, the Yamaha, the Cagiva. There might have been more, but these were all that are running.

Thanks for the help Keith,
Neil
