Just wondered how u guys warm your engines up in the morning?

I start mine with full choke but as soon as it ignites it revs to about 7k RPM so i have to put the choke in straight away and keep it alive with the throttle. Then I pull the choke out again but this time it only revs at about 3-4k RPM.

Why can't you have the choke half way? It seems stupid it's either on full or off completely Question .

Any comments appreciated.

...or you keep you bike outside for a year, then the choke lever decides to get really stiff. Then it sits in the half way position!

Mine really is quite stiff and desperately needs a bit of oil.... before I accidently pull the damn thing off.
But a half-way choke is just too useful!!

I was always told.. from cold.. to have the choke full out, start the engine without ANY throttle then once it's started push the choke back half-way (usually around 1000 rpm) until its warm (I have a temperature guage) then push the choke in fully - usually over and done with in about 2-3 mins.. Confused

I have a famous kawasaki choke, say no more! the more i can avoid using it the better. In fact in warmish weather it just about starts ok without any choke at all, but i wouldent use full choke ever. The last time i did that i pressed the button and heard an almighty bang, i thought the motor had dropped out the frame and landed on the drive!
