Well here is tonights story.
Myself and Andrea went to tesco to get some food for tonight...
chilli con carne
Sour cream
Mince beef
Potato wedges
Garlic baguettes
While Andrea was cooking, she opened the sour cream to see how nice it was. After each having a taste and saying 'thats disgusting' we noticed the sell by date was 08/09/06 No way was that going on the food, so we found some more we had in the fridge and used that.
Well after a really nice meal we decided to go and take the sour cream back to tesco for a refund. As we had only had a small taste each i decided to empty over half of the contents under the car and onto their car park.
Inside we went to the customer services desk and told the guy behind the counter what the problem was, showed him the date and i told him i had had to throw away the entire meal because i had put the sour cream on it (blatant lie ). He called the duty manager down to speak to us. While waiting for the manager the guy went to check the shelf and came back with another seven jars that were out of date (some going back to July ).
The manager was really apologetic and asked us what we would like. I told him that we had to throw away the food and would like a refund for the entire meal as i couldnt eat it with the out of date sour cream on. He said that wasn't a problem and offered us a bottle of wine aswell as a refund. We told him we didn't drink wine and he got us a crate of beer instead (Fosters £14 a crate) as a way of saying sorry for the inconvenience.
So i'd just like to say a big thanks to tesco
We have had a really nice meal, still have enough left over to do the same meal again, got a full refund on all the items and a crate of beer.
So thats ..
£ 7.50 - free meal
£ 7.50 - refunded
£14.00 - free beer
£29.00 - total |

I'm all for companies doing this.
But I hope that all of you were reasonable with your requests for something to be done.
When I worked in Homebase/sainsburys, the more assy a customer got, the less we did.
Even in society today manners go a long way. After all, they guy who you're talking to is more than likely to have never seen the roduct you're complaining about! ____________________ Like a Yorkie - I'm not for the girls |

You dick!
When I worked in Sainsburys all the staff were given £20 of Sainsburys vouchers to keep in their pocket. If anybody approached you with an item off the shelf which was out of date, you had to try to get the item off them in exchange for the vouchers.
If you had gone to the health and safety people and said your food had made you sick, and then showed them the out of date carton, you could have screwed Tesco totally!
Still, free food is a result I guess. ____________________ <Simple> no I'm shaven Jon

I stayed at my parents house one weekend whilst they were away (cheaper to have lighting heating and food than at my own place)
On the sunday Night I had a phonecall off my mum to tell me about my father finding a belly button bar in his bread when He'd made himself a sandwich!!
Well anyhow.. Not being a very happy chappy about this, He called then wrote to the bakery in question... and was finally given £250 as a 'goodwill' gesture!
(Only about 6 weeks later I had to finally confess to my mother that I had taken mine out to wash and left it on the chopping board and had forgotten about it....) ____________________ Funny, I used to hate being spanked as a child!
Tell me and I'll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I'll understand. |
