(not entirely technical) don't work for these people before it's asked Smile
have been meaning to put this up for a while.
https://www.holtsauto.com/products/146.htm
bought a bottle of this stuff from halfords. using it now for about the last 4 or so tank fulls. does it work? yes it does indeed.
i was a sceptic before using it.
on my bike i was getting roughly 150km's before having to switch to reserve. not too bad. about 8 quids worth of petrol.
since using it i'v been getting about 190km before switching. same amount of petrol.
i will say i'm pretty impressed with it, and would recommend it Thumbs Up

I'm very sceptical of fuel additives.

Can someone show me a single independent test to show they work?

I mean a proper test, not anecdotal evidence.

I can, however, find a series of scientific tests dating back as far as the '70s proving that various fuel systems do nothing beneficial, and some are even damaging.

If redex is improving your engine's fuel economy THAT much, I'd suggest there's something wrong with your engine, and it's masking the symptoms.

go on.. pick one at random and show me where it demonstrates an improvement in fuel economy Smile

Confused An extra 25 miles to a tank of fuel is an awful lot of difference, it might be a psychosomatic reaction. Like when people put Super Unleaded in their bike and say 'OMG I've got like another 30bhp!!!' They just want it to have a good affect, so their mind tells them it does.

Anyway, I used Redex every now and then but as far as I'm aware it's only used to break down carbon deposits and stuff. I used it when my bike was running rough when pulling away. It did work a little bit (or maybe that was a psychosomatic reaction. Wink )

same here. I chuck a splash in every now and again to flush the gunk out but then I forget to buy some more so it goes weeks without it sometimes. Smile

You don't need the stuff, the modern fuels have that many detergents in them the engine/carb will never get dirty. But if you want to burn your money...... Wink

I put Redex in my bike and it made it a WHOLE lot worse! Course it wasn't just the Redex causing this... haven't found the cause yet! Crying or Very sad

it is potentially just a placebo effect. and yes, without scientific evidence for me to back it up there's little i can say.
but, my bike's from 1989. was used relatively little between then and now (was about 9500km legit when i got it). so must have had some nice old shit in it. after putting about 3000km on it since september i chucked some in to see what would happen. fuel economy was improving after each tank.

25 miles extra on 9L of fuel is very good yes. i don't believe it's placebo. when you use your bike a shit load and get the same rough mileage constantly. you know what your bike can do. then you add one thing and consistantly get better results. i'd say it's that additive.

on saying all of this. you still probably wont believe me and say i'm just wanting to believe it's working. (yea i know super duper unleaded doesn't do anything).

and yes. i'm not going to be needing to use it again as i know modern fuel's are good enough.

beanfeast- it possible you put in too much? i did on one tank full and it really didn't like mix.

blah blah blah

Confused Given that it's an old bike, it might really just be a buildup of dodgy stuff in your bike causing poor fuel efficiency. I'm not an expert, I don't know if the carbon dirty buildup crap actually decreases fuel efficiency.
