Today was my first time riding since I past my test in January, got my new bike (zxr 750 h2) at the weekend.

Basically for the majority of it I was shitting myself (but still enjoyed it), I am not sure of any limits the bike has at all. For instance, I'm taking corners really slowly, just lack of confidence and the wet roads I suppose.

Anyone else feel like this there first time out?

I take corners slowly, Ive been riding for abour 2 months roughly.
Wet roads I tend to go even slower. Just try to relax, hardest thing to do but it works Thumbs Up

Blimey thats a long time to wait to get on the road, 11 months Shocked

Your probably fine as you are but it might be worth going back for a couple of lessons or at least a ride out with an experienced rider to help build up some confidence.

Because of the riding position at first it feels like you are laying on the bike looking down instead of forward and it will feel very unstable.

It's an easy bike to go effortly fast on. Within a month or two, even on normal A and B roads 50-60mph will feel slow, 80mph will feel like a steady cruising speed and you'll be taking sweeping corners at over 100mph without pushing it too much.

yeah I think thats true, just a matter of getting used to everything. Glad I'm being cautious just now to be honest (its not my usual frame of mind) but as long as the road are greasy i'll keep everything slow and smooth!

I had to wait a while due to other commitments and being a complete poor student! lol

1st few weeks i had my bike i was very slow in corners even my friend on his xr 125 did me over on the twisties (although he is a excelent rider) takes a few weeks to get it nice, and then your confidence and skill will increase and so will your cornering speeds.

I've just returned to biking after a long absence of quite a few years. I took a refresher course on the instructors bikes, and it was about 3 weeks after that before I rode my bike (did my back in, then heavy rain stopped play) I've been out four times in 2 weeks (weekend dryer days) and I've been helped to take it slowly by my wife who's just done her CBT and is now riding a 125 cautiously. I've been out by myself just the once, and didn't go over 70 - that felt quick, but I bet after a few more runs it will feel more normal.

I was a little bothered about a damp but greasy looking roundabout, but it went ok, so again I think that is a confidence thing.

The sheer joy of it puts a smile on my face Very Happy , and I find myself wanting to go out each evening after dark, but I think that will have to wait a bit longer!

It has to be a slow build, because that way you reduce the likelihood of silly mistakes by trying to run before you can walk, and I'm not really bothered if it takes till the warmer weather before I really let rip and get the pegs closer to the tarmac on the bends! Evil or Very Mad

Just re read my waffle. Is this what happens when you turn 40?? Rolling Eyes
