I work part time at the moment in a pub, but i need to start full time work ASAP, as i seem to just t be running down the clock, and i need more money. I live in biggin hill, the kent/surrey area, so if anyone knows of any jobs going, would be greatly appreciated.
Been looking at trainee mechanics, media sales, etc, things that can help me in the future because i am at the age where i need training to progress in life.
Can anyone help or suggest anything?
Thankyou.

Get of your lazy little bum and look!

Take your cv into every agency availble, look in the paper and apply for all the jobs in their and go round all the shops they are all looking for xmas people aswell.

Why should people look for a job for you. You obviously only want one as your mom is nagging you otherwise you would look a bit harder your self.

she is paid to find jobs for people as she works in an agency

i even sent her my cv Smile

i think its better to find a job without using an agency, but every time i have resorted to agencies they have found me something, so if you cant be arsed finding something good, find an agency instead who will give you something which may be ok

is media sales the same as telesales ? if so they are easy to get as no bugger wants to do them as you often have to work hard, but they can be well paid

£10.83 an hour for dicking about with a computer Thumbs Up and then some nights work in the pub also. Too add a bit more money to the bank Smile and also still have a social life Smile

There are plenty of companies who won't advertise in any other place than with agencies once they have advertised internally. There are screeds of jobs about but you simply won't have the time/ access/ knowledge to find them. Agencies are paid by the company that hires the person, not by the person themself.

I got my job through an agency. There were far more jobs available through that route than you might find in the papers or online. They also can give you very good advice and often will rewrite your CV into the format the employer wants to see - it saves you from cocking it up.

As far as temping goes, it's easy to get work like this. It normally pays better than a part-time normal (e.g. working in a shop/ bar) job too. Above all, show that you're willing and capable to work, rather than just sitting around on your arse sponging off your parents. No-one will look on you favourably for that.

If you're vaguely computer literate, you should be able to get an temporary admin job without even trying. Of course, it might take you longer working for the same agency before they'll give you anything any good. If you're always willing and always available, there'll not be a shortage of work and money around.

Central london is just up the road with about 30 casinos, the pay isnt bad depending on the position you apply for, its not particularly hard work, but the hours can be unsociable. If you get a job with one of them theres always the posibility to transfer to a different department if you dont like the first position you get.

I think they're still after a few php dogsbodies at my place. I can dig up some details if you're interested.

Personally, I avoid agencies like the plague (both when recruiting and jobhunting). Why pay an agency 10 percent when I can pick somebody up from the labour exchange for nothing? Worse still, if you're a standard contract developer then the agency takes a cut of 50% - that's 300 quid a day. If you cut out the middle man then your pay should easily be 500 quid a day gross.
I worked in recruitment advertsing about ten years ago and most agency ads then were bogus generic jobs that were designed to get as many applicants as possible just so they could get the cv's on record. If you apply for a job you see advertised with an agency, then there's half a chance that the job doesn't even exist, whereas if you apply to a classified ad then you're guaranteed that your cv will find its way to the employer and that you'll be chosen over any similarly qualified applicant who was put forward by an agency.

no it isn't, Telesales is kind of like canvassing, but on the phone, you have to be well spoken, stand your ground and don't take sh*t from no-one, (depends if you like your boss!) i have been doing telesales jobs (in one company) for over 6 months now, started working life cleaning, then worked in a cardboard-box factory but am loving telesales, my consiounce is OK as well, next route may well be IT related, will see how things work out, try it once, that's the best anyone can do also in telesales, some are target driven, some commision DON'T GO FOR COMMISION BASED, and have a job that pays a fixed hourly rate (+bonuses).

OH, AND media sales, i guess that is conference type stuff but would advise research as i'm not sure. Wink

yeh any job will do.lol
I have been applying to tesco's, and morrison etc, awaiting reply, also been doing alot of research on the internet, and creating a good CV.
Been looking in the papers, and job magazines, but so many of them require me to travel to london or further, i would prefer a job fairly close, or at least not as far as london, somewhere i can travel to and from on my bike. (the nsr wouldnt manage london everyday).
