Ok, i've got a broadband connection but no PC.

I have an old Xbox, i wanted to have a bash online.
Can i do this without a PC.

If so, what do i need, and what do i do?

you need to plug the modem into the ethernet port on the back of the xbox. you need a LIVE subscription and you need some LIVE enabled games.

When i connect to the online gaming, will they know?

Or will i get an update and it will fuck it?

your chipped box will get banned if you go on LIVE with it.

i think they can even detect the exploit if you disable the chip with a switch due to the differences in the HDD but i havent messed around with an old XBOX on LIVE for years so i could be wrong there.

I havn't heard of anyone getting banned, only if you go on Live with a modded 360 & a specific type of firmware you get a E66 message which means you can't use it, even offline.

But this can be fixed by updating it.

From a shop i'm buying from:

GWD can confirm that the error 66 and 71 codes can be recovered. Only Samsung DVD drives with earlier firmware are affected after the live update. From reports, these drives that show the error can be restored to original, and then re-flashed with latest xtreme to recover the fault.

we're talking about the original xbox mate.

my own original xbox got its EEPROM banned from LIVE one night during a stupid lapse in concentration that saw me go online for less than five seconds before iremembered that i hadnt turned the chip off.

bought a new unmodded box after that which i used for LIVE gaming and havent looked into modded boxes online since.

they dont ban your LIVE account BTW, just the xbox that you used at the time.

they can ban you if they like but choose not to as they are then doing themselves out of LIVE sub fees.

you have to use original games on LIVE with an old xbox as well.
