Before you all cry "400-grey-bike" I am already registered on there but find they are very sports-oriented whereas the ones I am looking at aren't.
But you will all no doubt be pleased to hear (well G will anyway) that they are not cruisers either. Not sporty either cos I can't do the head-down-arse-up riding position (or even feet-back-reach-over-the-tank) but some little brothers of popular models.
The problem I'm having is that because they are imports google is not my friend and I can't track down much in the way of specs for them (most of the pages I find are in Japanese)
I'll be looking at a few over the coming month or so, and obviously the height is going to be a limiting factor (although I now have a nice upholstery man whose prices are reasonable so getting a couple of inches of padding taken out of seats will definitely be an option) so I'm hopeful that I will fit on at least a couple!
First option is the 400 Bandit. I like these cos there's a fair few about and I know I can fit on one, had some opinions on those previously though so leave them to one side for now. Please don't suggest an SV400 too cos they are definitely too tall, I've tried.
Sooo, current options that I will be looking to find and test (I refer you to my other thread about bike shops lol) are:
ZR400 Zephyr (Kawasaki)
XJR400 (Yamaha)
400 fazer (Yamaha)
Anyone had one, know about them, etc etc? All opinions good and bad gratefully received!
Any other suggestions for similar bikes power, height and riding position-wise? ____________________ Sod falling in love, I wanna fall in chocolate.

i;m a buit drunk at them ometn so i don't know how this will bnode. i've scrolled up the thing s so i can see thes screen. if this is confusing, t's cos i'm tyrign to red screen without rading aids lik contact lenses.
Baby yam, fer suggestions
Honda CB-1 NC27. They hav e the same engine as the CBR400 gullarm and its' really cheap to mantain. You can have them for about 800 quid in reasonable nick. Gear driven cams mean engine longevity is pretty good. Most are ridden by couriers though which is a bit of a downer, but goes to show their popularity and strenghts. 40,000 miles iant too uncommon on a used bike. His did aboyt 115mph and it does look nice anr as i mentioned perviously, it mirrors the look of bigger bikes. Very comfortable to ride too so i'm told.
Honda Cb4 superdream. They look like the honda CB1300, twin shocks, i think showa, but mite need to be confirmed. Jammy-G's dad has one and it's a nice looking bike. It too has V-tec, like the bandit, looks nicer, but costs more to buy, 1000-2000 for a decent example. I might be right im thinking they need 180 section rear tyres? or is that 160? The sound nice and are pretty nippy. ____________________ The Tot 2019 Z1000SX - 2007 R1

You can check scale, riding position etc of XJR400 here.
click scale check, click rider, slide and change height of rider, and compare with bike.
XJR400 is a little bit larger than average of 400cc naked. Largest one is Suzuki Inazuma400. Zephyr and XJR are air cooled, less power than other liquid cooled bikes. Zephyr has the oldest engine and least power. The most powerful one is Honda CB400SF with VTEC engine.
Scroll down, you can see the CB400series historie.

Hi,,
I have a Zephyr 550 Uk version for sale at the moment , your welcome to come and take it for a spin to see how it compares to any other bikes you've ridden..
They are quite noisy being air / oil cooled when cold but they are easy to work on, the www.zephyr-zone.com has loads of useful info |
