Any recommendations? Not looking to spend much, but by the same token I need something with fairly clean rails (well, as clean as you can expect with a fountain pump on one of the 12V rails Confused)

~450-550w should be sufficient.

What's your budget? My mates tend to go for whatever Overclockers have, and they haven't had any problems so far :-

There's the crux of the problem you see. On the one hand, I won't touch the really cheap shite such as Q-tech (lost too many RAM sticks to those bastards), but on the other hand budget is severely constrained, so as far below £50-£60 as I can keep it basically. Been running an Akasa "Paxpower", a good PSU. It's put in a sterling performance but is sadly getting temperamental now, hence is being relegated to replace the unit that is keeping The Undead Server In The Corner alive.

Meh. Just looking for ideas I suppose. I'll probably end up buying something secondhand on Ebay and refitting it as a modular unit.

anyone know of particularly quiet ones ?

my ideal one would be one that has big heat sinks instead of a fan

i got an Antec NeoHE 550, no complaints at all, nice and quiet and with decent reviews

most importantly nice long cables after reading reviews of a lot of power supplies not having a long enough cable to reach the motherboard through the case design of an Antec P180

i paid £78 at the time for it, i dont think power supplies are the place to skimp personally more important than most of the other components in the pc

Tagan are pretty good, they are either DOA or go on forever with plenty of stable power. Not sure on the price though, might be a bit steep for you.
