Im looking for a motorbike top box for a GSXR 600 SRAD, needs to be something of a size to store two helmets. Where is the best place to look for one. Tried a quick google but found nothing.

regards

I cant see a top box listed, but have a look at the other luggage options. https://www.motorcycle-road-and-race.co.uk/catalog/motorcycle-sw-alu-racks-suzuki.php
Top boxes are ugly, but fucking handy. Laughing

Should be a law against people having bank accounts, finance, houses whatever as then I wouldn't get paid silly amounts of money to put YOUR documents in my topbox. Laughing

Do many people buy a bike to simply sit and look at? hmm.. Neutral

Givi is probably your best bet, krauser are worth a look too.. i can't imagine many places do luggage for gsxrs are there not really luggagey sorta bikes.. but i'd start there.

Personally i'd go for a pair of hard panniers since your looking at £200 odd anyway for a topbox you'd need, one in each side and far more usefull for luging things when its taken touring..

seems to be fashion of side boxes these days ,

its which evil you prefer really

the extra drag and instability of the top box or the reduced filtering ability of a wider bike from side boxes , another NTV pilot uses a single right side box, a sillier NTV pilot uses soft luggage , with pad locks on it.

Panniers are more stable than top boxes as they keep the load low down and you can get much more in panniers. As for filtering they are no wider than my engine........BMW Boxer. Wink

For the box itself, I'd generally advise to look at Givi (and Kappa - a cheaper clone version). Then you need something to mount it on. Try Givi or SW-Motech.

Unfortunately, I don't see any carriers listed for the GSXR, other than for the Hayabusa. Maybe you need a different (or second bike)? VFR 750 maybe? Or perhaps a Ventura system?

Hard luggage does look unsightly, and it's a pain to remove the whole setup once fitted, but has undeniable advantages.

I think you'll struggle to find an off the shelf solution for an SRAD, or any sports bike, so you'll have to improvise. Depends how handy you are.

The easiest way would be to get a Renntec rack, and get hold of the Givi Universal Top Plate (£20). Fit the rack and bolt the top plate to it. and you can attach a Givi box. You'll probably have to hack the little grabrail off the Renntec rack, rendering it worthless. It may also not be up to holding a huge amount of stuff weightwise, although as it'll mount in the same way as the grabrail I had on my SRAD, it might be pretty sturdy. A couple of lids would be OK though.

The other way I've seen it done is to source a tatty pillion seat, and bolt the aforementioned Givi Universal Plate to it, obviously ruining it in the process. Makes for a permanently attached hard tailpack iyswim. So you can't carry a pillion, and mounting/dismounting may be a little awkward.

Forgot I'd seen something like that before. Works out quite well, especially if you can get a cheap seat from EBay. Unfortunately, if you want to put two helmets in it, I suspect you may be wanting to carry a pillion. Not so useful then.

A top box on an SRAD will be fugly. Not sure if it's even possible with that arse.

Anyway, mine arrived today off eBay. Easily big enough for 1 lid (2 in any top box is pushing it).

Mine was £40 including shipping from German (search eBay for top box, it's a buy it now).
I have a givi top box rack already, so it just slotted on. Build quality is ok (not as good as givi) and they're so goddamn usefull!!

Up until now I've had to carry a rucksack around everywhere. Not any more!

I wonder if I can fit a mini moto in it...

I just got a givi rack and M5 plate for a top box (which still hasnt F IN arrived yet)

went for the V46 instead of the E52. Although the E52 is supposed to be much easier to get your 2 lids in it looks like a small hippo on the bike. The V46 isn't gonna look any better imo but its a tad smaller. The givi rack looks mint on my bike. Thought it was gonna look shite but it actually looks half decent. They have changed the bar colours to a titanium colour which blends well with the bike. Fitting took all of 5 mins. Just waiting for the box now.

Not cheap by any means though, £95 for rack and £205 (thats cheap its normally £256)

so an expensive do, luckily my folks are buying them for me for birthday/xmas.

just arrived on Friday!

Its rather large but cannot fit 2 lids well not my AGV stealth and my missus Shoei in as my Stealth has vents that stick out!

Damn it!

If you NEED a top box on the bike, then go for the biggest one that's practical. There's no point in putting on a smaller top box for aesthetic purposes when you find that you can't fit everything in it you want.

A Givi E52 will easily fit 2 lids in, side by side.

Below is a picture of my old Honda CB (in its part-time guise as ballast for a gazebo!), complete with Givi E52....for practical purposes, I actually miss having a top box.

Why do I see so many topboxes with cords/straps holding them down/closed? Are they that unreliable?

The white cord isn't holding the box closed, it's the bike holding down the gazebo!

I have a Givi on my Divvy (Poet and I didn't know it too)

Can't live without it to be honest. Probably because I'm the only one in my group of friends with any transport and so I'm always carrying pillions Smile

I found some photos of topbox craftmen. Cheaper than GIVI, huge size, and practical style.

the V46 and E52 where same price, couldnt decide in the end which one so my other half suggest the slightly smaller v46. The blue is a good match to my bike too!

Not tried it on yet but I have fitted the rack to my hornet.

Catches the body work on the exhaust side though had to put foam in the way to stop it rubbing paint off.
