Movistar rep eh? Should be a fun project, do yourself a favour though, source an NC35 (RVF) front end (being yokes and forks and anything else that can't be changed over) as the USD forks add a major difference to the looks! Razz

How about spending that money on riding the bike - so people don't think you're even more of a 'all the gear no idea' kinda person? Smile

Seems rather a waste, unless he really does feel it's worth the massive amount of money for a few compliments at a bike meet.
Also, doing this as mentioned, a lot of people would presume you're somebody that's got too much money and wants to show it off.

If he wanted people to have a better impression of him, then paying a fashion style person to kit him out would probably cost a lot less and have a lot better results.

If he just wanted better suspension; this can be done a lot cheaper with even possibly better results.

Providing you accept that you're spending a massive amount of money on 'looking nice' and are happy that lots of people may think you're a bit of an idiot for doing so; then yea, nowt wrong with it Smile.

Personally, I have bikes for the riding.

Not everyone does, believe it or not.

It is 'nice' to have a shiny new thing; but for plenty of people they an enjoy thounsand(s) of pounds in their back pocket a hell of a lot more than a bit of self-given 'feel good' because people can see they've got the latest model.

Thus plenty of people who could buy a brand new car or similar don't, but choose to go for an older model that does exactly the same and spend the money on some of the many other things which life has to offer Smile.

If you've got masses of money which you're happy to throw away or can only really get pleasure from having a good looking vehicle, fair enough.

Saying all that; people that spend loads of money buying shiny race bits for their road bikes can be a good thing as it means others can get them for a lot less, letting the initial purchasers lose loads on something they will barely actually 'use'.

So basically, if you've got the money, like the different look it gives, may feel a few slight benefits, then why not?

Go for it.

If you've got the money to 'throw away' or are happy that the very small benefits are worth it over cheaper things that may offer bigger benefits, yes.

Why not? Possibly because if they looked for other ways to spend the money they may find there's loads more enjoyable things in life to do with it.

It's all down to personal priorities, it's his bike after all.

Indeed Thumbs Up.

I usually make an issue of it because a lot of people don't really seem to think about their priorities before they spend; and often and end spending thousands which they later regret.

I'm not wealthy.

I do have some cash - but I mostly spend that on 'doing' things.

Not really jealousy; I just want to make sure that people /do/ have cash to throw around; rather than cash they'd regret throwing around.

I'd happily have my own personalised bike with super-trick race suspension that I rode fairly slowly on the road with (because I do) and made some people think I was a bit of a twat with.

However, before I got to the point of having enough money to do that, there's thousands of other things I'd be spending it on first.
