Filling up at the petrol station this morning some guy who was filling up opposite me said something along the lines of 'hey, nice bike you got there'.... obviously I said thanks, but I've never had one off a complete stranger before. It's normally some young lad trying to get me to wheelie Confused

ive had a few comments about my DT.. Sometimes even when riding it down the street! I think its a bit crp myself. I parked up against an 03 DT at work the other day and mine is actually smaller or lower. Mine looked like a toy against the 03 DT and mine is only a few months older Shocked Confused Evil or Very Mad

You do get the odd compliment off some people. I know if I go in to a petrol station in my car or truck I will have a look round to see what else is in there. If there is a nice bike (or car) I will probably stare at it from a distance. I don't tend to compliment the owners though! Very Happy

I get those weirdos too - if they knew anything about bikes, they'd know mine was an overweight, underpowdered machine trying to be something it'll never be.

when he found out it was me he said "what that silly c@nt?!"
Laughing
worse bit was he said he hadnt noticed me there until i had pulled away, so much for observation

The only people who compliment me on my bike are generally those who know very little about bikes Very Happy

You guys are lucky to be riding new stuff. As I ride Ariels I get a lot of silly old buggers asking "Is that a Square Four?" no it is not it is a Redhunter, you can tell that by the absense of three cylinders. All of these old sods will tell me that their first bike was a SQ4, there are far more ex Square owners than bikes made btw. The odd one will inform me that the rear cylinders are prone to overheat (they do not!).
The other classic is " I had one of those but it was a BSA".
BTW if you indulge these lunatics in any way they will invite you home to see their talking dog. If you are fool enough to go home with them they will make you eat Fray Bentos pie cold from the tin and bugger you.

I had it happen to me as well at a petrol station. Some guy just said "I like you bike it looks like its in good condition"
Also some old guy came over to me when I was parked up (engine still running) he said "that sounds nice"

So yes I agree it is nice to hear people say nice things about your bike

I always get the "Is that a 'Blade?" question. How a Hornet looks like a blade (apart from the Honda badge) I'll never know Laughing

1930 Ariel, where'd you get the Red Hunter from? My grandad used to have one and they're cool as owt Thumbs Up

I get "I thought it was a 'blade until I got close and noticed you were miniature sized too, nice... these old Hondas are indestructible aren't they?"
What can you say to that!?

Or the usual kid "nice bike, how fast is it?"
Or the person who knows nothing about bikes "Oooo, you don't look like a biker, how do you ride such a big bike?"

Laughing At Ariel, how many free cups of tea have you indulged yourself in?

You told me you'd enjoyed it! Last time I invite you over to look at my dog.

Anyway, it wasn't a BSA, it was a Greeves. Wink

I remember once in a petrol station on my (Italjet) Dragster, some random person said something along the lines of "oooh that's strange forks at the front, don't often see that" etc Rolling Eyes Laughing

Few months back going home (Inverness) from yorkshire in the transit with a (Gilera) Runner in the back, pulled into berwick-upon-england to pop into morrisons - but it was shut at 6pm-ish on a sunday! Shocked
Noticed few scooters and a bike or 2 parked a few streets away so though f*ck it, drove over to them to say hi etc but none of them wanted to talk to me Confused Laughing so just made a quick exit Laughing

I had an 03 hornet as a hire bike after a crash. I was on my way from home when I heard the thundering sound of a race can behind me at a set of temp lights. I thought we were on for a race. I must have caned it for about 6 miles, icluding absolutely roasting a bandit on a crawler lane. I was taking the odd risk so the guy behind me must have been on the edge keeping up. anyway we got to a set of traffic lights and I thought it best to let him past before one of us died. He got alongside, took one look at the bike and shouted 'fucking nice bike mate'. It was then I noticed he was riding an S reg Hornet. If you love em you love em! Totally shocked to say the least, this guy was so complimentary he risked his life to get a good look at an 03 Hornet 600!! Laughing

I was parked up at work one time, and 2 coppers came in to fill up with Petrol. Whilst one filled up the other walked over to my bike, I was shitting it, as the night before I'd been flashed by a front facing camera, so I thought he'd recognised it from a photo or something.

Anyway, fortunately he was the one who came into pay, and I couldn't not ask him, so I did, and he just said he was buying an NC30 in the same scheme during the week and was surprised to see another one around!

Also get a few compliments in town centres.....although it gets annoying when they want full blown conversations and I'm trying to leave.... Thumbs Down

I've lost count of the number of times I've had to answer questions about the Tornado from complete strangers. I don't really mind (it's one of the things with riding something unusual), but it's nearly always when I am in a hurry to get somewhere Mad

Once I was stuck in heavy traffic and a tramp walking through the traffic stopped and patted my bike on the screen and then continued on his way. I took it as a compliment. Laughing

I always remembered when I was working at my local newsagents, often reading a bike magazine off the shelf at the till. I can always guarantee you that a couple of 40-50 year old men would come and go. "They don't make them like they used too". Or the classic "I owned a BSA back in the 70's". Laughing

Now tell me, what is an 18 year old to say to that? Confused

I was at the garage the other day with shaun. While filling up, i noticed a chav jump out of a modded car and run over to me. He asked if the number plate was illegal. Told him it was a foreign bike as its still registered in Guernsey. He looked a bit puzzled as the numberplate is only a 4 digit number but proceeded to say 'well its a fu*king nice bike'

Always nice to hear someone say something so nice about your bike Thumbs Up
