I was at work today putting a full system on a Nissan 4X4 thingey, In a proper shitty mood because Arvin exhausts are WANK fitting.

And then I heard

Nerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Looked around expecting to see a few ped'bois passing. But to my supprise, i see a Fully Unionjack painted lamrettor, Followed by a bright pink one.

Then another, And another. Until they were basically passing in their 100s. Laughing

Id say atleast 100 Lambrettors passed my work today, in 2 lots.

Among them, I saw a few Italjet Dragsters. Then newskool Bretta bois! Cool

And some rudeboi on a DT125 was "among" them. Dont think he was wanted tbh. Just thaught he was cool I guess.

Then As the next lot passed, I thaught I heard somthing like a CBR600. Turned around to see a Vespa pass at about 100mph! Laughing . Must of had some crazy Lump in it!

So does anybody know about this ride out. Was anybody there?

Arent Lambrettor engines Grumpy old 2t/4t single cylinders. Theres no way a Single Cyl enigne could of made the same noise as that thing was making today.

Ive seen 600cc lumps put in lambrettors before. Had a video of one, Ill try and dig it out.

it DEFONATLY wasnt a standard Lammy engine. Laughing

Tuning is a very popular thing amongst Lamby and Vespa owners, being that they are relatively easy to do and give quite an upgrade, but they are quite expensive. I have seen a video similar to the one you speak of. Lambrettas, or at least the traditional ones are generally all 2 strokes, the ones I have encountered anyway.

I like Lambrettas, I have grown up around them and they do have a special place in my family. My Dad used to have a Lamby made up in Dambuster colours and a full paintscheme as a tribute to the Dambusters. Lots of chrome. Has won many awards, sadly most after he sold it. It's quite famous in the hardcore Lambretta circles.

My main point was to tell you that contrary to popular belief, they are quite nippy little machines.

You can fit loads of different engines into lammys and vespas. There a quite a few scooter tuners who do this round the uk. I have seen pk50's with tuned rotax 125 engines in, KTM 400, RD350 engines in lammys. Lammy autos are becoming popular as well. putting 30hp+ 172/180/210 kitted auto engines into a lambretta frames. I quite fancy one, though they are quite expensive. Few links below that have lots of pics and info on scooters with powerful engines fitted.
