Very Happy Hi
They're called 'wave discs' and because of their shape, they clean the pad's surface as you brake. I've seen a lot of super-motards with them, plus the new Buell firebolt comes with them as standard. 8)
Performance-wise I doubt you'd notice on the road, but I spose It'd be an improvement on track.

The Firebolt doesn't have wave discs, it has an inside-out front disc. https://www.buell.com/images/products/xb9r_whiteblue.jpg
wave discs are groovy, though.

Ah, yeah you're right. Wave discs, rim-mounted discs....see how easy it is to confuse me... Laughing
Do any new bikes come with the wave discs as standard?

They continously shave the surface of the caliper so the pads don't fade due to dirt buildup - but there's the side effect of very quick pad wear.

I saw some pretty nifty brake discs on a Honda yesteray. They were twin discs on the front (so practically four discs!) Wow stopping power.
