hi, while my mito is off the road awaiting its re-build, i was thinking about getting the swingarm powder coated as its looking rather tatty, im not sure what color to have it done, im thinking Red or black so far.

Can someone do me a photoshop job for me on the pic below with the swing arm in red and black please.

When i was on about getting mine done (which i still haven't) it was suggested that haveing it painted and baked on is a better soloution, cheaper and more hard wearing and will look better for longer, its worth looking into..

What condition is it in now? when you say lookin tatty is it actually rusting? tbh i'd wire brush it and hammerite it, powdercoating is a loot of money to spend it its not needed..

its cast alloy, so it wont rust, but it just genreally looks tatty with the paint on and off in aptches and a load of black chain dirt where i cant get to to clean it.

I'd be tempted to go for a matt or satin finish as gloss powdercoat looks a bit nasty IMO.

Powder coating is incredibly tough if done well. Cost should be no more than £30-£40.

I very much suspect you'll be wanting to take the bearings out. The sand basting required before hand tends to get everywhere and will ruin bearings even when masked up. The grease in them can also run during the heat cycle.

A lot of powder coaters spend 95% of their time doing large industrial parts like gates, railings etc. so try to find one that has experience of bike parts. Make sure they are aware of what threads need masking off as powder coat will clog and ruin threads, anything larger than M10 will be expensive to put right.

Are you sure it isn't powder coat your thinking of; Paint that is baked on is pretty much the process invlolved, except the paint is applied in powder form.
