The cert's are only available from certified dealers and they only get one per kit, so they'll not be any aoagy ones going around, unless it's a bad copy. Also I think they've got the reg number written on it. i'll just go check...
that took faaaaaar too long to find for my liking!!!
right:
reg number
make/model
V.I.N. number (?)
my full details
type of restrictor, size and inner size.
test results too!
max power (KW) 25kw
max power (BHP) 33bhp
and max speed (MPH/KPH) 98/158

who installed it
also it says the cert's only valid if it's me riding, so non-transferable.
lisence catagory (A restricted)

plus who it's made by, who approved it, etc...

Well, i think that's you buggered!!!
best thing would be to get it officially restricted then take them out. it'll cost you £200-300 but it'll be worth it.

TJ,

I got so pissed off wiv the training schools dates cost etc:
I phoned up got a short notice test and did it on the NSR
wiv hindsight it probably would ave worked out cheaper in
the long run! But hey, there U go! That's life.

I did a DAS course in August last year on a Suzuki 500 and
on the test day the Friday the test wus cancelled! got a free
re-book but would have still had to pay for the bike hire etc:

Left it for a while, bought the NSR, then popped along to the
training school and said can supply a bike and an instructor for
for day! They say NO but we will flog you a new DAS course!!!

I said sod that for a game of soldiers, I rather take the restricted
of my own back, and either wait the two years, or buy a restriced
bike, get used to it, derestrict it, then take the test again!!!

I think that just about explains everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mole

P.S

Comments Welcome!!!!!

yeah- but if I passed my test and got straight onto an R1 I'd either kill myself or loose my license within the week.
Plus, the fact is that even if you could get on any bike, for us 18 year olds small capacity bikes are the only option cos of insurance prices.

But then again I still want a big bike so I agree fully Laughing

I agree that the bike licensing system is over complicated...

Keen: you say that you'll probably kill yourself on an R1, but you would have to have enough money to buy and insure the thing first!...and what's to stop a 21 year old killing themselves?

I was trying to make the point (probably not very clearly) that I couldn't afford it even if the license laws changed. Talking about R1's I was just trying to point out where the govt's coming from- them thinking that when you're 21 you're more responsible etc. But I'm not saying that when you turn 21 you magically become a better and safer rider and wont have an accident. But because of the laws I personally will have had a few years experience by then- so this is bound to make me a safer rider.
In reality the whole thing is just to make the government look better- they have to be seen to be keeping young road users safe otherwise it reflects badly on them.

Fair enough. I'm not gonna argue over it cos I'm not even sure what I believe. But I do think there's some logic in it but its not fair to just target bikers- I mean, the roads would be a better place if boyracers had to have restricted cars for 2 years wouldn't they (say 60bhp)?
Plus it could be shit-loads worse than it is now.

The only stupid thing about the license system is DAS.

If everyone had to ride a 33bhp bike befoe jumping onto a bigger bike then there would be a lot less bike accidents - specially in the 30-something-ive-seen-rossi-on-telly-and-can-afford-a-fireblade group who do they're das, buy a new litre bike then go and wrap it round a tree at 100 mph on the cat N fiddle a week later.

Sorry, but a week on a cb5 doesnt prpare you for an r1!

Yeah thats a fair point. My Business Studies teacher is a good example. He saw that I had a BikeTrader amongst my books and mentioned that he was looking at getting another bike. He said that he had them when he was my age (18 ) and then hasn't ridden them since (he's probably in his 50's now). This was a few weeks ago and since then he's been out and bought a Suzuki RF900- a 160mph bike!!!!!! the poor bastard's gonna kill himself!

Keen have you considered that he may have been driving (allbeit a car)
for 40years or so and has seen it, done, and probabaly worn the tee shirt.

He is not daft, his mature nature and reduced testoterone, will probably
keep him on the straight and narrow, he will love the bike even at
moderate speeds, and will just enjoy his own form of biking.

Not all 50+ Males are as silly boy racer prats like me! Twisted Evil

If I drove my BMW sport coupe every day the way it likes to be driven
I would'nt have llicence left!! Imagine wot a testosterone charged
youngster wiv is girl in my car would do wiv it!! They are bad enough
wiv Fiesta's and Nova's!!

He's happy, trying to recapture his youth like a lot of us, oh shit, that
wus a bit of a giveaway Smile

Be Cool

Yeah I fully understand wht he wants to do- he's retiring at the end of the year and he just wants to have a bit of fun, but they didn't make bikes like that 30 years ago and his original idea of getting a half-faired 600 would have been more sensible to start with. I realise I was probably being a bit condesending though, especially when I have next to no experience myself.
But I don't begrudge him a fast bike- I'm not at all bitter about me not being able to afford the insurance on anything more than a 125 when its probably costing him £120 Fully comp Evil or Very Mad ( Laughing )

Mole - dont get me wrong, Im not saying that all older bikers are like that, but I do feel that it would make more sense for all riders to spend some time on a restricted license - even born agains if theyve had a long break. How much better prforming is a modern 600 than a 15 year old 1000? The differences are huge yet someone who hasnt ridden for 20 years can still buy a new R1 and take it out on the road without any training at all.

There was an article in UBG a while back - this 60 odd year old bloke bought a GS500 and was shocked when the gear change was on "the wrong side" yet he didnt take any training what so ever.

Still, the one good thing is that in a coupla years time when Ive got, and have mastered my 400 Ill be able to ride the pants off the both-ass-cheeks-off-the-bike-no-lean-angle-knee-down brigade on theyre shiny new Honda V5's!!
