Hello&Goodday
I am intersted in purchase of your bike but first i will like to know some things, which are:
-How long has bike been with you?
--Where did you first purchase the bike from?
--How many owners has the bike had?
--What is the bike's annual mileage?
--Has the bike been damaged?
--Does the motorbike come with the spare keys?
--Do you have the bike document and is your name on it?
--When was the bike last serviced? --
Why are you selling the bike? --
-which other site did you paste the bike?
Lastly the bottom line price of the bike.? I will like you to mail me back
with the anwsers to the questions above and i will like you to know,so mail me back as soon as possible. Best Regards,
Mrs Brenda

Thanks for getting back to me i will like you to send the pics ok..I wanted the bike for my son he is always with my neighbours bike so i want him to have his own bike. However the price is ok by me.Please I will like to inform you that my agent will have to be in your location for the pick up as soon as the payment gets to you and have the bike send to me through ship.As it is now you will be recieving a cheque of £4,000 from my husband who is in the state for a construction work he is very busy as the chief engineer of fresse construction company. So as soon as you cash it,you can go ahead to deduct the cost of this bike and an extra £20 for the neccesary things for the bike.and have my balance send to my agent for him to proceed to your location for the pick up of this bike and some other things my husband bought in the state. Please I will like to have your mailing address and your phone number where the cheque will be send to so that my husband could get that ready fast.
Hope to hear from you soonest
Thanks
Mrs Brenda

Had a very similar email when selling my RVF, something about them being happy to pay my price and then having the bike delivered/shipped somewhere.

I pollitely said that the bike had already been sold (even though I bunged the thing on Ebay a week later) and heard nothing more.

They don't only make the assumption that you are stark raving bonkers, they dont even think it through to start with.

One of the best I got was when a bloke claimed to be the 'Prince of Belgium' and he thought my bike was 'perfect for him' etc etc etc. Now at the time I was selling a 4 year old RS125. Who in their right mind would not imagine his highness himself not only on a 125cc, but knocking about on my old RS with a huge following of body guards behind him.

You will get many more of them emails by the way Rolling Eyes

why respond politely?

why not tell them to build their own bike out of tin cans, stupid Nigerian scamming c*nts

PS if your not sure it's a scam then simply google whatever they've sent you.

i googled one sentence from him and it's come back with loads of replies from Scam websites, it's obvious that people get spammed with the same message.

https://www.scamorama.com/sales_scam.html etc.

They send a cheque for £4k, you send them the balance. The £4k cheque bounces as it was stolen, you're left out of pocket. Very simple and also very old, thought nearly everyone would know thats a scam by now.

MCN linky.

Don't bother replying with anything to them.

I got loads of these when I ws selling my Kymco. I drafted a template response saying all was good and gave them my work address. It costs them money to print & send out the fake cheques so I thought i might as well get the scamming cnuts spending as much as they could for nout back. Even got one guy to send me a cheque for £25 cos I told him my bank charged "a special presentation fee" for bankers drafts. Stupid bastid Laughing

Hmmm theres an idea that could be taken one step futher... scam back at the scammers Laughing

Say that your bank requires a £25 'special presentation fee' that has to clear for at least 14 days before your bank will accept a cheque of over £1000. Say that unless it clears correctly the cheque they wish to send for £9 billion odd to cover the cost of your old banger won't be accepted by them.

Hopefully they will send you a nice cheque for £25 that will actually clear...then you lose contact with them Wink

Essentially what I did, except I didn't have the bottle to put the cheque in the bank. Didn't want my account flagging up with the fraud squad as being "linked" to international scammers!! Laughing

Think the funniest one was someone saying they wanted to export the Kymco to Taiwan.......hmm, thought they might already have a few there already......thought it was me having a problem with Kymco spares.......

Just got to watch though, they WILL phone you, I gave them an old PAYG mobile number that I didn't use anymore

What people seem to forget when they try and scam the scammers is that Mr Umbongo may well be in Nigeria, but he most likely has friends and family over in this country to do any dirty-work he might require of them.

Not worth the hassle imho, just hit delete.

Not really. It's very likely they are in another country. Ignore tham for now, if they mail you back or call you say the bike was sold/stolen ect.

Yep. In fact, the the scammers I have heard of assure the victim to wait until the cheque clears.

It usually does... initially....

Cheque clears then a few days later, usually after you have given them the balance, it gets found to be forged/stolen and bounced.
And you are SOL.

I would delete the mail... or have a bit of fun Smile

Which reminds me of this piss-funny case of scamming the scammer.
The infamous p-p-p-p-powerbook!.

Its kinda long - but its worth it. The impatient can scroll down to the pictures for the punchline.
