Ok, so can anyone give me a bit of info about steroids, I'm talking anabolic steroids here, muscle growth stuff. I've been going to the gym for the past few months, have gained a fair bit of muscle for my size, but I feel I have reached my max. I weigh about 11'9, and am 5ft 11. I don't think I have any more fat on me to turn into muscle, so I have stopped going to the gym for a while, have been a week without going so far. Im using this period to put on abit of weight and hopefully gain some fat in my arms, and especially around my waist, as I feel I have quite a narrow build. I really want to gain abit of width around my waist, thats the one area that I dont like. Just wondering if steroids are any good, but are they addictive, damaging etc.

Loads of chicken and pasta, leave the steds alone.. I put on HUGE amounts of muscle mass a few years back, so much that i was drug tested at work.

There's a hard back book on the market by a guy called 'Dorian Yates'.........buy it!
Dorian has a gym near me and has a supliment outlet in the town, he is ex 5 times Mr Olympia and he knows his stuff.

Cut down the reps and lift heavier weight, 3 x 10 reps is bollox... go for 3 x 6 reps with heavier weight.

Sack all this advice.............BUY THE BOOK and read it

I'm also 5'11 and I'm 12 stone, was 11.5 stone 6 months ago, slight to medium build. All I do to build up is eat fairly well with plenty of meat, and an HST workout.

Steroids are very bad news. They have permanent bad effects. They are addictive.

To even consider taking them I would expect someone to be at a point where they just make decent gains with normal training (after 5+ years of it) and need some chemical help to get big or strong, and thats into serious athlete/bodybuilder territory.

steroids are bad... they are addictive.

Major side effects can include liver tumors and cancer, jaundice, high blood pressure, kidney tumors, severe acne, and trembling. In males, side effects may include shrinking of the testicles, low sperm count (and possibly infertility) and breast development. In females, side effects may include growth of facial hair, menstrual changes, and deepened voice. In teenagers, growth may be halted prematurely and permanently.

You quite obviously do not understand how to gain size, hense you thinking you are at the maximum natural growth level.

At below 20 you already have high enough testosterone in your body. And being that you are 12 stone (The same size as me) then you are not close to your natural max.

You should start reading up at www.muscletalk.com about diet and nutrition, and even the beginner parts before considering it.

Since the following quotes lead me to beleive you dont understand weight training/bodybuilding/mass building, possibly even common sense:
-"I don't think I have any more fat on me to turn into muscle"

-"I really want to gain abit of width around my waist, thats the one area that I dont like"

Now you have to decide whether you would like to be a fat wideboy, or a muscley built guy. Its all about putting size on your shoulders while keeping yourself as a 32ish waist. Big chest/Shoulder/lats, and small waist with some big wheels is the way to aim.

You can not change fat into muscle! Rules of training without going into scientific details are, Eat big, you will get big. So learn about eating big and training correctly first.

On the actual Steroid side I would say that it isnt as bad as the media makes out. It may have side effects, and if done incorrectly and unknowledgable it will cause sides.

The shrunken penis thing and boob thin is partially true. to prevent breast tissue growth you need to have PCT (Post Cycle Therapy) ready to go, which is usually a hormone replacement tablet for women. This supplies your body with oestrogen and the body in turn slows the production of oestrogen down. The reason you take this is to balance out the with testosterone. Which your body has also stopped producing as much of because the steroids have been providing enough for your body to become lazy in production of test. When the oestrogen and test are evened out again your testes will come back out of there small shrivelled state, and you will be a man my son. Karma

For a knowledgable 25+ year old who has been training for half a decade the steroids could be worth it if he/she is at a good size and of good health. But for a 12 stone at 5'11" (me) it is not worth it at all, especially with how mixed up you are in your training knowledge.

I don't like the idea of taking any drug where you don't get instant gratification.
Steroids sound like a complicated and risky business. If you're into weight training as a hobby then start looking at your diet as part of that. Just eat more.
A mate of mine who was into weight training showed me 'before and after' photos of a lad who was using steroids at his gym. It was only 6 months worth and the size and shape of him was ridiculous. He did also say that the lad suffered side effects physically and mentally. I just don't see the point. Unless you are a competitive athlete I can't understand why you would even be tempted.

I agree with Reevo8, although i don't do any training myself, a lot of my friends do.
5'11" 16.5 stone and 17% bodyfat, built like a brick shithouse, taken 4 years to get there and he's now 21. The best advice you can get is what Reevo8 said, you really need to read through that forum, read up on everything until your blue in the face, then you will start to understand how it all works. Low reps of high weight if you want to bulk.

Steroids, make you look stupid, blotchy skin, un-natural look about you, and everyone can tell your on them, just a big no no.

And for gods sake, if your going to bulk out, make sure you do your legs as well, its soooooo funny seeing people who are massively built up top then have the standard puny legs, looks rediculous. Laughing

if you want to gain bulk without taking drugs...use supplements.

you can get protein supplements from places like "GNC". They are not addictive. and are not drugs. they have no illegal substances in them. Alternatiely you can eat LOADS of meat, raw eggs etc.... but you get a lot of protein oper serving with the supplements.

Do not use steroids...any type. not worth it. whilst here i wouild also advise avoiding a supplement called creatine. although not illegal. no long term research has yet been completed, and some scientists are worried about what it could be doing.

Needless to say... My bubble was burst!

Really i can't see the point of it.

Personaly i'd rather have a helthy fit body, than huge muscle bulk.

I'm 5,11 and weigh 12.5 stone. thats just from lots of cycling.

lead the life style you want. eat devcent food. and you own body will make look after making sure you have enough muscle/fat in all the right places.

If you really want to put on weight do a routine like robby and reevo8 have suggested. Something along those line's will work. Train in the gym 3 times a week with perhaps some cardio in between.

Eat 3 large meals a day and take 2 protein shakes between them. You do not need to take ANY supplement's. Protein shakes (whey) merely make it easier to take in the necessary amount of nutrients as preparing 5 meal's a day takes a long time.

If you want to take supplements like creatine, or general multivits, GNC is not the place to go.

GNC employ uneducated people to sell the wrong items to people. You will be better off visitng an online shop, and purchasing some stuff in bulk. Being as you have been training for time I guess you have the weight gainer/protein shakes sorted.

If you go onto www.myprotein.com, or www.bulksupplements.com and look at the instantised unflavoured whey. Its cheap in comparison to the well advertised stuff, and you can make it taste how you want it to.

Also CEE (Creatine Ethyl Esther) is well reccomended, it is the faster acting brother of Creatine monohydrate. Creating is produced naturally in the gall bladder, and so it isnt too much of a worry, would expect no sides really. It helps transport red bloods cells to muscles, which could help in recovery.

You want to be eating 6 meals a day. each with around 500-700 cals. You need a carbed meal at breakfast, with some eggs for protein, or just a weight gainer shake with your normal brekkie. Another important thing is that you have a protein shake before and after training. Even just these little things and you will notice a huge difference in muscle size!
