ive resolved my problem, ive decided that if i buy anything other than the NSR (what i wanted originally) i will want to get something else as soon as i get it, so im gonna have to go with the NSR :P

i will buy second hand, but i need to know a few things first, i want a official UK spec bike, with teh foxeye fairing, when was this introduced?

and people say after 20k sport strokers need an engine rebuild, im happy to accept this, but how much does a full rebuild cost? and how many times can you do it i.e. how many miles will the NSR do before its ready to be stuffed behind the garage with the old rusty fridge?

and am i right in understanding 2.5k will get me a reasonable second hand UK spec NSR ?

Yes 2.5k can pretty much get you anything but a new NSR, i've not seen a second hand NSR above 2.8k

You'll have to wait for the resident super mechanic kieth to come on, he can tell you alot more about it easily.

Lets just hope he doesnt start charging for his encyclopedic knowledge anytime soon

Hi

REalistically the engine will maybe need a new piston, big end bearing and main bearings. Not sure of NSR prices, but the last time I asked for Aprilia bits that is £80, £80 and £40. Labour to fit them will vary. If you drop the engine out yourself then you will knock quite alot off the bill. I think a local engineer quoted around £100 for fitting mains and a big end to a 125 (piston is easy enough to do yourself) if I took the bottom end of the engine in.

All the best

Keith
