It probably won't be very long.

But there is nothing nice about watching someone hanging.

Good riddance, not a great loss.

I see on other forums the bleeding heart brigade are already on their soapboxes condemning the execution. Rolling Eyes

Another uncivilised act in an all together uncivilised affair.
I wonder what people think it will achieve other than some sense of revenge.
In my view it is exactly what Saddam did to his enemies so this makes it a case of "meet the new boss, same as the old boss"

Another Martyr for the zealouts to fight for, thats all his hanging has achieved.
Cant stand the bloke but his country was nothing to do with me.
I dunno, i just think the shits gonna hit the fan even more now.

I fear this may have only worsened the situation in Iraq. This is the last thing they needed, all they have done is make Saddam a Martyr and thats what he wanted.

Perhaps Saddam should'nt have been alone in the gallows? Many seem to forget that Britain and the US were the ones who supplied Saddam and his regime with weapons and aircraft by the bucket load. It suited us at the time and we made a fast buck but at the expense of perhaps thousands of lives.

I hope the Iraqi people can move on from this. It really is the beginning of a whole new chapter in Iraqs history, lets hope its best foot forward.

Good luck Iraq Thumbs Up

I find it odd that the executioners decided to wear balaclava's rather than hoods or another type of mask.
After all balaclava's are associated with crimes and terrorism in most peoples minds.
It would have had more of an official air (to me at least) if they had been wearing something else.

I thought it seemed a bit odd too that they're wearing balacalvas, looks like another terrorist video posted on the net of some british hostage execution or someething Laughing I can understand that they'd want to hide their identies though as they might not be too popular at the minute! but why not a hood and mask around face in white or something ?

i dont think saddam should have been killed to be honest, shoudl have let him rot away in prison for the rest of his life....

Probably to send him out in traditional east end style, plus it stops terrorists and bombers etc, finding out the identity of the executioners, and giving them a taste of their own medicine...

Erm, I thought it was 'our' business because 'we' (well, the US) sold them these 'WMD's.

As for fucking the world over, I thought that the worry of that came from higher oil prices? Smile

I think the Russians had it right when it came to carrying out an exacution back in the cold war days. None of this ceremony, indignity and waiting about. The sentance was delivered and the condemmed man was taken down to the cells and shot in the back of the head straight away.

Job done clean, quick and painless.

I'm not quite sure how many aircraft you can fit in a bucket, but many seem to forget that France and Russia actually supplied Saddam with far more than we ever did - including Mr Chiraq selling him a nuclear reactor for weapons development. Still, don't let that little fact get in the way of your trendy UK/US bashing!

The bold text being my emphasis - it suited us at the time is a fair description of most foreign policy decisions made in most countries most of the time. Far-sighted philanthropic gestures are surprisingly not the norm - especially outside of the western alliance that everyone likes to critique.

In fact, our support for Saddam was to combat the spread of theocratic governments in the Middle East, such as Iran, rather than to make a 'quick buck'.

I couldn't agree more.

I didnt mean it to sound like US/UK bashing, I must have sounded like a pro peace hippy Laughing

What I meant was that we supplied him with the very weapons he used to murder his own people then complain when he does it? Much in a similar fashion as the Yanks when they supplied arms to Iran when it suited them.

I believe the worlds largest bucket is around 25 metres tall, thats big enough to fit a Hawker Hunter aircraft in Mr. Green
