People who say they have the 'flu when they have a cold.

One day I will kill someone who says this.

"I've got 'flu" "No you haven't you nob jockey"

*Whack*stamp*stamp*stamp*

It makes me mad.

Laughing

One of the guys i kiteboard with was claiming he was sick and had the 'flu' today.

He asked to borrow my BEAST of a kite and what happened? My kite kicked his ass for me.

I didn't have to do anything, it was great! Thumbs Up

Seeing as you are not within punching range would you be so kind as to punch yourself in the head a few times?

Thanks Laughing

I think I'm actually getting over a mild 'flu virus.

I spent 16 hours in bed on Wednesday night where I sweated so much I've had to change to another bed while mine dries out. The top of my head has only just stopped feeling like it was trying to unscrew itself. I ate something today for the first time in two days.

Feels like someone has scrubbed all my skin with brillo pads, put sand in my eyes then jumped up and down on me for half an hour. That's with 600mg of ibuprofen on board.

And I'm on call 'till 5pm on Tuesday.

Lucky me Evil or Very Mad

Saying you've got flu is just for sympathy from family and work, thus earning you an extra mug of tea/day off work/blowjob.

Unless you're Stinkwheel. I've never had flu by the sounds of it, never want to either. Neutral

I've only ever had the flu once in my life and you really feel like you are going to die! You cannot leave your bed and if you try to move every musscle in your body feels like it has got 20 knives sticking into them.

the way people talk about colds and flu is a joke, black and white, no middle ground, as if a cold is always a cold and flu is always flu.

but this is nonsense. theres are many strains of the flu virus, some can kill, some dont, and theres thousands of viruses that cause a "cold", some that give you a mild sniffle, and some, like the one going round now, that ive had since boxing day, which also gives you the shits, nausea, stomach cramps and dizzyness.

its not flu, man flu or a sniffle cold, its an unpleasant virus that has incapacitated me for the last week, and judging by the way i still feel, has probably got 3 or 4 days left before i work it out of my system.

when it gets you joe, pass this way for some sympathy. not. Rolling Eyes

Well, technically a cold IS a cold and the 'flu is the 'flu. Each has varying degrees of severity and the symptoms can overlap but they are different things

Two distinct virus families. If you have a cold you've been infected with a rhinovirus which is an member of the picornavirus family. If you have the 'flu, you've been infected with an influenza virus which is part of the orthomyxovirus family. They are very different.

wasnt trying to suggest there was any overlap in the make up of the flu and cold viruses, just that there are some rhinovirus that are quite severe

Well said.

Lots of people choose to describe their colds at flu, well so be it- nevermind. Maybe for empathy.

BTW - colds can be VERY nasty Smile But exageriating a story is so much better and we are all guilty of that to a degrree. Just ignore.

I've had a blocked nose for a while now, and put it down to just another cold. Blew my nose a few miniutes ago, and this baby came out. That's a 2p in the piccy. Looking it up, I think I just relieved myself of a nasal polyp. It's currently sitting in a small bottle of vodka, so I can take it to the quacks.

Could be brain though, then it would be man flu.
