Ok, i havent got a car, and now winter is here and i am reminded of how horrible it is riding in the winter i want a car for next winter, i would love to get a honda civic 1.3 bali, but insurance is too much for me, so i looked at a ford fiesta 1.2 and that was still too much, for 3rd party fire and theft it was about 1800!!! im only paying 400 for the bike. and thats hard enough as it is to afford.lol.
i may even have to drive my mums matiz for next winter, how embarrassing Embarassed lol

This is going to piss you off......VW Golf R32 4Motion DSG Fully comp....£380. Even cheaper if I was to keep it in the Garage instead of on the drive.

Wish i could get that sort of cover at that price. My problem is im 18, and not yet passed my test, with only 2 years no claims on the bike which some companies wont accept. So i think i will drive around in the matiz when i pass my test, then see how the cost comes along for a civic.

Ditto.

my best bike insurance quote is:

Norwich Union,
Honda Ns125R
£287
TPF&T
INC legal expenses,
breakdown recovery,
RAC accident recovery,
& £150 excess.
The guy i spoke to said he would also knock £30 off if i bought it there and then.

all my other quotes were above £350, without any of that, all other companies said there was no way they could compete with that, although i havn't gone ahead with it yet, what are the chances of the price changing overnight?

buy a cheap shitty 50cc moped, slap it somewhere it can't be nicked, and insure it, you may never use it, but not only is it building you some NCB, it is there if you need it... Thumbs Up

Get insured as a named driver on a parents policy. I must have said it 50 times on this forum. It's the easiest legal way to pay cheaper insurance.

Yep Rookie is right, but that way you never get anywhere. As when you want to insure a car for yourself your back at square one.

I pay £1600 tpft and can drive other cars tpo, at 17 on a 1.4 Civic. Which is good because i get to drive my mates cars around legally aswell as my dads when his is off the road.

Why have it in the drive? Tow it to a breakers yard, keep the reg'n plate and tell the breaker you will take care of the SORN and all the V5 crap.

Worked for my best mate who insured a B reg mini for about £125 TPFT for a year!

Indeed, but ultimately you pay less anyway even if you're paying more than you would be at 21 having paid out at 17, because the cost of having no NCB at 21 is less than the cost of having no NCB at 17.

Yeah, but with 4 years ncb at 21 you could insure a very good car for the same price you'd insure a average one.

My mate is 21, hes always been added to his mums policys and he currently owns a brand spanking BMW 330d, he's still paying around 2k insurance because every year he's still got no ncb.
