Did anyone else see that road safety "Think" advertisement on the tv?
For the first time ever they're giving motorcyclists some (much needed)notice.
The ad is basically of someone driving down the street in their car. The camera is the drivers view and you see him/her looking out the windscreen down the street and at their rearview mirror. Anyway the driver notices a biker behind him/her in the mirror while driving[ the narrator then says "now you see him"], drives on abit more looks again[narrartor"now you dont"] .The driver then comes to turn right, indicates, looks for oncoming traffic then turns right..crash!! The motorbike behind (overtaking him presumibly and in his blind spot) crashes into the side of the car.
The ad ends "THINK".
Quite effective really. It'll hopefully make car drivers a little more aware of how bikes can be in their blindspots and to look behind when turning, something that car drivers never do!

Hi
yeah i saw that its ok but my car driver mates say its the bikers fault, which is the wrong message to put out ie fuckin bikers its their fault bla bla bla, it would have been better for the driver to be waiting ai a T junction and he looks one way and sees nothing comming he then looks the other way, sees nothing so he pulls out, and a bike hits him from the direction from where he first looked. hope u can understand that.

Ive only seen the advert on TV once and that was late night on Channel 5 in the Adverts for some Japanese film called "RING". I kid you not.
Thing is, what kind of target audience is the advert aiming at when its shown in the middle of "RING" late night on Channel 5.
Then again im a biker, and i decided to watch "RING" so maybe the producers have done some research and late night films with the title "RING" attract bikers.........hmmnnn interesting Wink

The driver doesn't indicate in the ad...she ( :P ) just assumed that everything was clear, so there wasn't any point...whilst the rider assumed that as the car wasn't indicating, it wasn't turning...

...it wasn't trying to point the blame at any particular party...and to be honest, if the rider dies, who cares?

next time u see the add look out for this: -

the first time he says "now you see him" the rider is clearly riding a step through scooter, but when the camera pans to the rider lying on the road the bike has changed from a scooter to what looks like an er-5????

TBH - it's not wondeully well made as it does make the biker look a twat. But people who aren't really thinking about it in detail will learn from it to an extent.

It's better than nuffin.
