Ooh you got a pic. The memory card on my camera's totally buggered. Not sure if I dropped my bag or mud got somewhere but it's really not happy about the whole thing.

Annoyingly the only semi recognisable pic I managed to recover was the one of you. Razz If you really squint you could pretend the hongpoo was a KTM.

Edit: Anyway as we both know you're fully to blame for the whole fiasco, with your "it's fine just ride through" bollocks. Besides, who fell off that day and who didn't? Wink

Nice pic. Thumbs Up In my defense it wasn't the piddly depth of it that was the problem but the fact it was like glue. At one point I got my foot stuck and was wondering if I'd ever see it again. Laughing

I think it was the same guy who said "hey Dom you go first through that nasty great rutted thing. Oh you're stuck? Okay I'll just drive round the edge here."

And I think it was the same guy who spent 5 minutes trying to get his bike to start having fallen off only to call daddy and realise that the kill switch was turned on. Mr. Green Wink

Laughing Not that I've ever done that, oh no... Rolling Eyes

So, with all these lovely looking lanes, how about a BCF trail-riding expedition some time? I've always wanted to have a ride on Salisbury Plain Smile

Can riding in deep water like what a1trackdays posted do any damage to bikes, cause I'd be worried about the spark plug getting soak on my xr250r in a river like that Laughing Also, any tips for riding in deep water like that, ie - what speed, pressume low gears would be the best, etc?

Provided that your air intake stays above water then you should be OK. Water in the electrics may cause the 'bike to stall, but a liberal spray of WD-40 or similar should sort that out, and water in the fuel can be dealt with by draining the carb.

They're tough 'bikes, and it usually takes a lot to stop them.

I remember getting bogged in on my yz125 when i lived in bovingdon. Was only 13 at the time and out by myself on the tank training area. Managed to get myself bogged in and wasn't strong enough to pull it out.

I kept trying to drive it but in the end i burnt the clutch out. I was stuck for ages. Eventually i was spotted by an army landrover. They pulled me out phoned my dad to come down and towed me home Laughing

Well, it's probably not going to bikes any good. Razz

Spark plug being wet is only a problem if its water inside the engine. The XR is alright until you get water upto the snorkel height. Other than that, you're good to go through water as deep as you want. When you get back home spray WD40 around parts like suspension linkages and wheel bearings.

In this picture the water is just above the snorkel height. Rolling Eyes

What kind of bike still turns over with the electric start when the killswitch is active. I mean really, what the fuck.

Besides, I got to find a bike for myself soon. One where the back end feels like it is connected to the front one.

Mr. Green Thumbs Up

Its my back-yard so-to-speak , and would be more than happy to show the bcf massive around BUT .

You need to be prepared with the right kit, tools etc.

Riding the Plain is DANGEROUS so if you do silly things you will ruin the day for the others ( > gettiing shot at > by a tank ?!) (we always stick together).

The other thing is its VERY tiring (as "g" will confirm) .

I think it would be better to wait until the early summer due to the water level, it good fun when its wet but for the next couple of months it really not safe for noobs (unless you bring a jet -ski)

Another proper sized puddle. Razz

I'd be up for a BCF trip to Salisbury, can go night riding across the plain and then camping if people are interested?

Thanks for the offer A1 - and I'm most certainly not a newbie! Twisted Evil

My tool pack has enough to cover most eventualities, including oil, WD-40, allen keys, sockets, spanners, torch and a spare plug.

I don't mind a bit of water either:

Forgot to add this one:

https://www.gordo.eclipse.co.uk/pictures/bikes/ely/emma-in-pond.jpg

Not actually my 'bike - I made it though that one and got stuck in the next one:

https://www.gordo.eclipse.co.uk/pictures/bikes/ely/andrew-gordon-pond.jpg

That's my KTM on the right (after I'd pulled it out), and Feef's DR on the left. If it looks like the same one I'm riding in my last post then you'd be right Very Happy

After taking the pictures I did go back and help Emma get her 'bike out - I love draining water out of my boots... Confused
