are gold aerial/tv leads better than the standard silver aerial/tv leads, do they give better quality and better signal or is it all rubbish ?

your not going to notice the difference between a signal received through a gold one compared to a silver one.

As far as scart leads and the like go i personally noticed a massive difference, no "Ghosting" or intereference!

Would reccomend the gold to all

The gold plated RF, Scart, RCA (etc) fittings are generally better than the standard ones.

But, it's all down to the old "Weakest Link", in where unless they are ALL gold plated your not really going to gain from spending the extra.

If you look at the RF (Aerial) input socket on the back of your TV, for instance, I bet it's a standard one. Wink

When we recieve units at work for repair they usually have to enclose a proof of purchase, which is often a credit card statement.
We can see from their statement that they've bought something like a 42" plasma and a 160g hdd recorder together.
When we look at the recordings on their hdd recorders it quite often looks like they're using a coathanger for an ariel.
unbelievable.

I was told once (regarding scart leads) that the gold ones aren't any different to the others. The only thing to watch for are the pins - to make sure there are 21 pins, as some of the cheaper plugs have 20 pins and that's what causes the lack of quality.

The salesmen in Currys will have you believe that the gold plated scarts are superior in every way and you will be blown away with the quality. I love how they charge about £35 for one too. They must make a fortune from people who don't know better i.e anyone that walks in their door. Laughing

One of my scart cables was £50!!!

Didn't pay for it mind! Let's just say it's rather chunky! For TV stuff I don't think you'll ever really notice any difference until you get into the manic HD stuff.

Speaker wire however! Different kettle of haddock!

All you need to do now is nick a load of gold jewellery and melt it down ready for dipping. Cheap as chips. Thumbs Up

Unless your TV is gold plated it probably won't make a difference! Smile
