EDIT: Scroll to page 2 for Round 2.

I'll start the next game with the opening move I believe was made famous by the late great Rufus Bonkworthy. Sometimes considered to begin a very closed game, but not in the famous Peabody-Millicent game of 1976

I'm feeling a little dangerous, so I'll be bold and suggest:

Ooh, you surprise me, wasn't expecting that.

Thinking I'm going to open it up all the way to Hammersmith. A bit controversial but the 1994 rule amendment allow it in these circumstances.

May we introduce Northern Hemisphere rulebook act 3? This would enable me to play Camden Town as the next move.

I saw you lot playing earlier and I'm amazed none of you tried this move:

Double or quits - time for a single branch delay twist!

Mill Hill East!

Sorry, but that's the most laughable move I've ever seen!

I thought you said Northern Hemisphere Rulebook, Act 3… Oh never mind! If you're going to play like that, technically you have forced me crossover to:

Ealing Common

Please everyone remember rule 7b: All Egyptian moves are disallowed except crossovers and double takes.

Don't understand? Like most sports (and MC is surely a sport), in my opinion it's far better as a participant than a spectator. Learn the rules and join in.

Anyway, a very powerful move and fortunately for you, I don't have my rucksack! I think I'm in Spoon and therefore can't play a Rushton's charge so I'll go for the more simple:

You're all forgetting the Whit bank holiday game of 1994 in which it was determined that Brooke-Taylors playing of Aldgate East early doors, while setting him up for the win, was unsportsmanlike conduct for a "first go". Ruston made the point moot however by immediately blocking the widdershins rotation with Finchley Road and consolidating the diagonal.

Whilst not as strong a counter, Pimloco leaves me open for a move to:

Chalfont and Lattimer

What is most important to stress is that it's not so much the substance of the rules that count, more the elegance of the player, the flair of play. A game of Mornington Crescent is all about style, first and foremost, not technicalities.

The Basic Rules:

Each player takes it in turn to name a street (generally tube station) in London.
The winner is the first person to say Mornington Crescent.

There are others but they are mainly composed of amendments and clarifications. There are many varients and rules that can be invoked and deployed during a game. Here is a list of the varient rules that are always in play, unless otherwise stated.

Rule Amendments

Euston clauses
Victoria clauses
Northern Line rule
Incorporating Options
Swedish Inversion Rule
three time loop jump
Reverse-Badgering
Livinstone Itergrated Transport rules 2002c
German Lateral rules
War Provision Rationing Rules of 1942
arrow pinoche varient of Euston Rule
Two hour Challenge
Definitely no Worple Financial Index
Reverse bidding
Osmonds ruling of 1975
1999 Red Ken versus The People ruling
East Anglian advantage
Rule 221b

Varients

Cobblethorpes 1960 Beeching execution variant
The Larch 1986 variant

Manouvers

Ottoman
Shunting
Slip Routes
Bidermeyers slip
Napoleon manoeuvre
Ruislip triumvirate
Snape's Drift
Heathrow Terminal 4 Move

Points

Get Out Of Kilburn Free card
Blue Chips
Green Chips
five pounds
Victoria line bonus

Banned Rules and Varients

The 1833 Half Scrotum

Anyway, to continue:

That move was only introduced in the famous Brooke-Taylor vs Garden grudge match in November 1992, a full 3 hours after the abridged 2nd revised CSR rules had been signed off. Using a Burberry enthusiast derivative, combined with a pyramidic line convergance I make the huge leap to:

Beckenham Road (on the Croydon Tramlink)

I would suggest that early closing is enforced.

Aha - the A40 northbound used as a counter-play offers rear access to suburban bidding!

I don't get it!

The winner is the first person to say Mornington Crescent, so why not just say Mornington Crescent! (I know it's pedantic but the rules aren't clear for shit!) Confused

A move for the older generation now, exploiting the classic 'Bob's Musket' ruling in 1957.

You can't just get to Mornington Crescent from anywhere. If only it were that simple!

Looks like I've been forced down the Docklands Light Railway via Tower Gateway and anyone whose name begins with a "D" or "M" is in Knip until 11:30:
