Yes mate, it really is a steal at that price, 6 months ago I paid £4300 for an 05 model.
Just make sure that it has had the TPS recall carried out... |

I think the XT660X is a decent enough bike! It looks ok, it's got some practicality, like most commuter moto's. It isn't that quick, but for day to day use, or just for having some fun on etc it would still be a laugh!
TBH i think that when most people are looking for a supermoto as their only bike, that most people want the soft option/commuter moto type bike, as opposed to a real competition or close to it, machine. The benefits of these soft road biased supermoto's greatly outweigh the weight, and power disadvantages that they have over more competition orientated machines, for most people looking for a daily do everything machine.
It just seems not very fashionable to like these kind of bikes, and some people go as far to say that such bikes should not even be called supermoto's because they are too heavy and big. Yeah right!
I will always think of the Yamaha TDR250 as the best supermoto bike for street use ever made! And how unfashionable is that, a two stroke parallel twin, with big but wind protective bodywork, a screen, and a decent comfy seat too? |

Providing you're happy that's it's a 'commuter' bike and no where near being a 'super'moto, then sounds like an ok deal.
Personally, I'd still be trying to find someone that's done some miles on theirs and is selling it for even less - don't like the idea of restricted revs for the first 1000 miles - half revs for 500 miles really doesn't appeal on a sports bike, never mind a much slower big trailie. |
- TBH I've ridden a couple of other supermotos, a KTM LC4 and a WR426 conversion. You do notice the power difference, but for the type of riding I do I could never own one, they are quite uncomfortable, have an even worse tank range than the XT and require more servicing... On paper the XT looks terrible, with a 'measly' 48Bhp with nearly 30Kg more than a 'real' supermoto! But you can still back it in, wheelie, stoppie and be a general nuisance!
- I broke my bike in quite hard - as usual, changed the oil after 100 miles, again at 600, 1000 and every thousand after that. The oil still comes out pure... |
