EDIT: I can't be arsed to go through the site again and see if the voucher code is still active, but since this was posted almost a month ago at the time of this edit, be careful in checkout in case it's died a death.

Found this nifty little offer.

Go to www.LXDirect.com

Go to MP3 players.

Select the £15 one.

Register for the site.

In Checkout enter ZG9909.

You get £10 off and free delivery.

Sorted - £5 MP3 player. Smile

BEWARE!!. Just tried to place an order for this item, order went through as £18.50 even with the account showing £5, rang the help line and the order was going to charge me £18.50. Have now cancelled the order over the phone, i would suggest you ring to confirm that you are only paying the £5.00 stated. Woman on the phone stated that the promotion code was only valid for items over £25.00 in value.

It's not, she's wrong. I had to phone them to confirm it for some reason, and I got a receipt email with the Discount there, charging me £5.

The E-mail confirmation states that the total is £5. If it was going to be £18.50 then it would say it on here would it not?

No, they can as far as im aware charge what they want. Some let you get away with it as kindess from the heart.

Confused Where do you figure that? False advertising is very often pulled up for infringements, and as far as this specific example goes there is no mention of a minimum order in the contract so they're legally bound to supply goods at that discount when it's used.

It's the same as Amazon did a good few years ago. Whenever you signed up an email address you'd get a £5 voucher for anything you wanted. So people signed up hundreds of email addresses and got shedloads of CDs for free. Amazon lost a fortune, but they couldn't do anything other than withdraw the offer sharpish, by which time they'd already lost thousands of pounds.

The price tag on an item is an 'invitation to treat' if I i recall correctly - ie and invitation to make an offer. When you get to the checkout and they tell you the price that's when you can either accept the price or reject it.

correct. I was referring to shops sorry. If they accidently put £5 on summit instead of £50, theres noting you can do.
Sorry for confusion

Thumbs Up Gotcha. Interesting rule! By that logic Currys could start offering laptops around for £20, people take them to the checkout and find they're actually £400. Course, as an advertising ploy it wouldn't be particularly effective...
