pc not working much at all now

i just tirned my pc off then on and now it wont even get to the windows logo.it gets to the bit wjhere its verifying vmi dtat and thats it.

any ideas?

open it up and unplug the drives from the board, then try switching it on. Does it give an error? If so, then plug the boot drive back in and try starting it up and see if it gets any further. Sounds like a mobo problem, but it could just be a bad ide port, a duff device or a bridged pin somewhere. Randomly unplugging stuff, hitting it and swearing at it occasionally perturbs the problem out of existence

EDIT:

oh, and it could be duff ram as well. Try removing and/or replacing some of the memory or making sure everything's bedded in properly

it gives me one beep at the start.i can still get into the bios,but it goets to the bit about verifying dmi pool data then after that it just hangs with nothing on the screen

reset your bios, do you know where the jumper is on your mobo?
