are there any rules that say you cant go on the track unless you have a full license?

You need a full licence for a track day, or you can use a racing licence. I think you need a racing licence for competetive racing.

I believe its around the £45ish mark, depending where you do it. All it is is a theory test.

You need either a full bike licence or race licence to do a trackday. Depends on the organiser and/or track if they let restricted licence holders on or not.

Think theres also a catch22 about being/joining a race club though before getting the race licence or something.

I'm sure one of the racers will give you all the exact details tho.

you need to become a member of a racing club (£30ish), do a CTC (Compulsart Training Course) Test and a ACU Recognised Certified Race School (between £100 - £150) (unless you have a full road licence, all you need to do is the CTC test), and you have to pay £42 (was £40 in 2006, now £42 for 2007) for the actual licence, plus you need to have an eye examination and have the ACU form filled out by an optition.

Mine cost me in total on my 1st year (2006) without a road licence = £265
This year (2007) = £78 (renewal) (Club membership and ACU licence fee only)

If you are gonna do track days on an ACU licence, at MotorSport Vision circuits (Brands Hatch, Cadwell, Oulton Park, Snetterton) you need to be a minimum age of 18, at other circuits you need to ask upon booking. I know Mallory do an ACU licence holders test day on a Wednesday and there is no age restriction...

The CTC test can only be taken at the ACU Headquarters in Rugby, unless you are attending a race school that also caters for the CTC test... These include The European Race School, The California Superbike School, Mick Boddice Race School and The Ron Haslam Race School. Again.. enquire when looking for a race school. MAKE SURE THEY ARE ACU APPROVED.

When you go to book your track day, make sure they accept an ACU competitor's licence.

Bare in mind if you go to a trackday with an ACU licence you may be put into the ACU group with all the nut case racers.

Rather than the nice softly softly novice group where you really aught to be.

You'll need/want a road licence anyway, so do it, an ACU licence isn't really worth the hastle if you just want to do trackdays.

some track day companies wont let you on even if you have a 'full' license, the restricted period on your license means companies like focused events will tell you to fark off, as well as organisers some tracks such as cadwell will tell you to aswell until your two year period is up...

depends on definition of full license
