Welcome to the Forum mate...The NSR is a good first bike in my opinion, easy to ride parts are readily avaliable and pretty easy to work on...

Yes mate I've still got mine ( Click on my Profile below for a pic ) I'm sorting my test out soon though so I'll not have it for much longer...

Then again for the ten quid a month it costs to insure I may keep it aswell, not sure yet...

Hi,

Doubt its a 2005 model. If you are 20 I would recommend doing your test or waiting for a year and doing your DAS, pointless getting a 125 because you will get bored and want something with a bit more go. Also as a first bike a 4 stroke is more reliable. The NSR is a good bike, I know of one better for sale if you are intent on one, in the Leeds area.

Where abouts in Leeds do you live? Get yourself into the North section, come to Squires.

Hi and welcome to the forum Very Happy

I had an NSR (it was old though - 1992). Great bike, but I found it difficult to ride with regards to slow maneovers and accelerating (particulary hill starts!). I never seemed to get any better with that, no matter how much I practiced, whereas a 4-stroke seems much easier.

Nice and nippy though, and make a lovely smell Thumbs Up

Hi,

It's not 2005 as they stopped making them as far as I know, though it could have been registered in that year, I have seen a 2004 ZXR400 and they stopped making those a while back.

I would go for more of a 2002 model as they look good but also that is essentially what you would be getting but on a later plate.

I live in the Bramley area so not too far from you, just down Kirkstall road I think. Whats your budget for a bike? I wouldn't spend more than £1500 on my first bike to be honest, but thats just me. I also turn a blind eye to a few minor knocks but again, just me.

Is the basic jist of the bike I know of for sale.

Why not wait until your 21 and do your DAS...... dont waste your money on flashy 125's, maybe get something cheap, just to put you on, until you are old enough to do DAS. Then you will be able to ride whatever cc you want.

yeh true but the way i see it is that if i get a 125cc ride until am 21 then at least i will have some experiance on a bike.

when you're 21 you'll still have to resit your test to qualify for a bigger bike, or wait out the 2 years until you're 22.

Waiting till you're 21 to do your test will mean you can pass on a 500 and ride anything thereafter.

If you've got the cash go for the NSR and then do DAS, I've always thought its better to get some experience on something smaller rather than do DAS straight away and possibly kill yourself on a 'blade

They stopped making the NSR in 2003 due to the euro 1 clause. Shame really, nice bike. They made the CBR 125 range instead, but they are too small and skinny - well for me anyway.

I've got an '02 NSR and love it to bits. But I warn you though mate, you'll be fed up of it within a few months. Been riding mine for nearly two months now and I want more power! The only thing I can fault is the engine noise, sounds like two monkeys in a biscuit tin trying to get out. Oh, and slow speed manoeuvrability is a bit tricky.
