Right. So, a friend of mine accidentally tosses his cell phone in the wash with the rest of his clothes. And washes it. It's ruined, obviously.

Sadly for him, when purchasing the phone, he declined the $4/month insurance. And now he's pissed that they won't just 'give' him a new phone. To the point where he's called and complained to three different people and is threatening to cancel his contract with them. They've even offered to send him a new one for $50 if he signs, notarizes and returns some paperwork (not a new contract), but he's complaining that he can't wait a week for a new phone even though he's got a spare to use in the meantime.

I think he's a moron and he should just suck it up and pay for a new one instead of making life hard on others for his stupidity. I've kept my mouth shut thus far but I'm curious what you lot think.

I've done the very same thing! The worst thing is the sickening realisation when you hear the *thud* *thud* *thud* of your new phone on spin cycle.

Fortunately I know myself well enough to opt for insurance Smile

He is a TIT.

Our insurance is near enough $10 a month usually (when offered by a network). Tell him to stop being a tight shite, to grow up and slap him on the back of the head (for me). He sounds like a big kid, stomping his feet.

Another vote for tit here. That is the sort of risk you take when you don't take the insurance and at only $5 a month that does seem a tad tight if the phone wasn't covered on any other insurance policy of his.

Oh, and get a better phone next time - put one of mine through a wash cycle and two drier cycles once and it still worked Very Happy

Yep, tit. But tell him to break it down into all the parts he can without breaking it and stuff it in the airing cupboard for a week, hope is not yet lost.

Another vote for tit.

Reminds me of someone I knew who used to keep her phone in her back pocket. Off she sauntered to the loo one day, sat down and...plop! The phone fell down the loo....she managed to dry it out though, and I think she's still using it!

Eew! Sick

hmm $10 a month.. I've not broken a phone in 3 years, that's $360

that covers the cost of a new phone easily Very Happy

If it's only $50 to get a new phone, then what's the point in getting insurance in the first place? If your phone doesn't get lost or broken you've just wasted $48 over the year anyway. Confused

5 tits and 1 nob is a very niche attractiveness market...

Yes, your friend is stupid.

I had my son pick up my phone when he was two. I thought it was cute he was pretending to talk on it, then I heard his little feet pitter patter their way down the hall toward the bathroom. I knew where he was heading; he was going through a phase where he thought it was interesting to see what floated when he put it in the toilet, and what sank. Even though I ran after him, I only got to the bathroom in time to watch him let go of the phone and watch it plop into the toilet. It sank, in case anyone was wondering.

Wasn't my fault, but I still couldn't complain that the phone had malfunctioned, I swallowed it and bought a new one. If he could get a replacement for $50 he should take it. And tell him he should stop being such a stubborn prick, while you're at it.

Anyone remember that article (or email possibly) ages ago about when you're a proper biker;

'you feel your mobile slide out of your pocket whilst on the motorway and watch it cartwheel away in the rearview mirrors. And with zen like calm you know it is lost and dont even slow down.'

I just bought a new phone (for anyone who added to the thread it was a d500 in the end, £55 delivered) to replace the 6600 ive been slowly killing for a year and eventually submerged in a pool of tea then dropkicked against a wall.

Buy cheap, replace cheap. Just dont buy shit. If you lot will opt for contracts just to get pretentious fones for cheaper, expect to cry when then detonate.

I only lose the content and maybe 50 quid. My ex has flushed away about 400 quid (that she cant afford) on her contract phone over a year. Its retarded.

Your mate by the way, is also an annoying example of how idiots can pester good deals out of companies Sad
Tell him to stick a coke bottle up his arse! Thumbs Down
