Hey guys,

Well, im currently on a Aprilia RS125 and looking for a new bike - my interests mainly lie in sports bike and looking mainly for a 600 like CBR, GSXR, but I was just wondering the opinions of others as I know little to nothing about them. My biggest concern is that I am not of the age to be doing the full DAS yet, (<21) so 33bhp limit comes into play, presuming most of the 600's can be de-restricted? how well do they take to it? and possbily just thinking of not restricting and risking it, but I dont know if its worth it, proberly not. Any comments or suggestions would be a great help.

Thanks in advance, Brod. Smile

Sports bikes are great but insurance is going to be stupid money at your age.

TBH I've checked how much insurance would cost me on a CBR600F worth 2k, a '98 one (which I'm looking to buy) and it came at around 700TPFT which I think isn't too bad for my age (18).

I payed 600TPFT last year on a 4t 125 chinese. Only 100 quid more for a much more powerful bike? Yes please.

If I were insuring the CG this year I'd be looking at £78

As I am insuring the GB250 Clubman instead I had to shell out £140 for TPF&T

There arent many days where I enjoy being old! Razz

Obviously not old enough! - I was quoted £97 for a Bandit 600! Went for the CBR600 at £175 instead. Thats with 0NCB. Still, I'd happily pay more if I could be in my early twenties again lol.

Do you have a full license or are you on a CBT?? My full license I mean carry pillions, no "L" plates, and use motorways.

If you've held a full license A2 for 2 years then you can ride whatever you want regardless of age. So in theory you can jump on an R1 at 19.

I just did a bit of personal market research on future insurance. Using a D.O.B that makes me 25 (which I probably will be when I intend to buy). With 0 years claims bonus:

Suzuki GSX600 - £650 TPFT, £1150 Fully Comp
Kawasaki ZXR400 - £600 TPFT, £1025 Fully Comp

I'm also considering a VFR400, CBR600F, ZXR600 and for somet a bit more sensible the Fazer 600, Bandit and Honda CBF500/600

Couldn't be bothered to check them all...

Hey, I re-passed my CBT a few days after my 18th birthday as my lust for a bike higher than 50cc grew and jumped on a 125cc with L plates.

Decided to wait until early this year to pass my <33bhp test (Sorry dont know the name) Restricted liceinse? The way it works out now it shouldnt matter - only a few months between the 2 year waiting time and me actually being able to take my DAS at 21.

Anyway while this topic is up and running i dont want to be a hinderance with topic spams, but I was wondering something about my RS125 - lose of power sitting at traffic lights or whatever. I have to either keep blipping the engine because if i keep it at a steady rate (be that 2-5rpm) i lose power and the bike near cuts out :S Is it because its a 125cc 2 stroke? or is there actually a problem im not aware of.

Its still restricted btw

Thanks in advance~ Brod Smile
