Hi guys, as usual i turn to all of your guys wisdom on this one.

bought a zzr600 e for 750 a few months back, had a little bit of a rattle when i first got it, and now, the rattle is definately louder (obviously) to the point where it is the same noise as the engine itself.

My first thought was shims- but they have been done about a year ago?
(this bike has been really well maintained by the previous owner but was put away into storage for two months)
so, i took off the plastics, and had a looksie, no oil leaks, nothing out of the ordinary (im an idiot i probably missed something but nothing seemed out of the ordinary to me!) and the rattle SEEMED to be coming from the Cam Chain Tensioner (checked what it was in my Haynes Manual)

could this be causing the rattle?

Im not losing ANY power at all, but the girl will start after two tries to power her up, and runs really well. she hasnt been toyed with at all, completely original, and hopefully, a bargain to pop.

any ideas guys? and if so, will i be able to do it myself (i hope) with just my own hands, some simple tools and a manual, or should i leave it to the mechanics?

cheers for all the advice i hope to get in advance!

Right, if i remember correctly here, and someone correct me if i am wrong, but on the back on the ZZR motor and the barrels / head there is the camchain tensioner bolt. remove this bolt and spring, and push a small screwdriver to take up the slack on the ratchet.
I think the ratchets get stuck and seize, and this way free's it to adjust the slack out of the chain.
I remember it working for me anyway on my ZZR D back in the early 90's
