Heya.

Is there anyway I can get a pointy tail for a zxr400, instead of the big sqaure brick things ( I dont like them : ( )

Its the only thing I hate about the bike!.

The ZXR does have a certain 'ruler' designed ass Laughing I hated mine on the 750, but its like the mole on Cindy Crawfords face or Britneys huge horrid snatch Sick , they are just slight flaws Wink

An R6 tail should fit with a little modification, the most common swap on most bikes as its as pointy and sexy as they come.

You could try a race set up, but then the number plate / indicators and brake lights will have to bodged and mounted somehow.

What year r6 are we talking about?

And what sort of things will the modification require, such as welding certain things? Cutting floor tray?

Thanks mate.

It will vary from bike to bike, I have seen plenty of FZR that have had the R6 tail unit (and fairings) fitted without too much trouble.

Clicky

Best thing may be to trawl through ebay and see what cheap 2nd hand units you can get and have a little go before spending big buxks on a new unit.

Remember that the seat its self may no longer fit and this too would need modding.

Pretty much any tail unit "will" fit, but Im not aware of any bolt on replacements. You might be able to get a fibreglass replacement from a race bodywork supplier in a different style, but obviously that would be a single seat unit. If you want to fit a seat unit off another bike, try and get the subframe from the donor bike, this makes the swap a hell of a lot easier. If your subframe unbolts then you will just have to modify the subframe from the donor bike to line up with the rest of the bike's bodywork. Then obviously you'd have to get the seat unit painted etc.

The rear subframe on the ZXR does seperate Thumbs Up

Try looking at similar sized machines that will allow a semi straight forward swap, of course if these bikes have squared butts then you are back to square one Laughing

Lol, I am a welder by trade, so I can modify the subframes I guess.

Do you think that will be a good idea to do though? As I will have pilons on occasions so its got to be safe.

A single seat conversion would be more than safe enough, but if you want to carry pillions then I would just leave it as is.
