If you had a double disc front braked bike, and removed one caliper and disc, refitting all lines for the single caliper to make it work that way, would the bike be MOT worthy?

My FZR should have had twin pot front brake calipers, but for some reason, they had single Eh?, when getting work done, the mechanics did nt bat an eyelid.

This however did cause lots of problems as the year and model did nt match the brakes and parts needed Brick Wall

From the pics on Bikepics it does have twin pot calipers, as the early FZR600 had as standard. Only later did they move on to the 4 pot calipers (1990 I think).

I was going to say, whats the big deal Rolling Eyes but removing half of the stopping force up front then yes, I'd say be careful. Best thing to do is ask the testers what they think before the MOT.

The early model diversions had a single disc setup and stopped perfectly well!

Just wondering of the legality of it.

As a tester I wouldn't fail it as I don't know every thing about every model, BUT what I would like to know is why you wish to make your brakes less efficient? Confused

Well.......

The calipers on the XJ are awful twin pot sliding jobs that corrode badly. One caliper is servicable, the other is not.

I removed the duff one as it was constantly binding. The sliding pin was so corroded that it is no longer a proper fit.

Buying a used caliper is a possibility but i dont want to buy more crap. R1/Thunderace/FZR calipers dont fit unfortunately.
